Description
This is the High Grade 1/144 GELGOOG Menace (Lunamaria Hawke Custom). This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, and is piloted by Lunamaria Hawke. A machine developed by ZAFT as a successor to the ZAKU Warrior, which is currently in trial operation with Compass. Lunamaria's machine has the same red coloring as the ZAKU Warrior she piloted during the previous war, and it also uses a customized "B.O.L.E.L.O. A." It is armed with missiles and a linear gun, as well as a long-range beam rifle carried only by Lumaria's machine. It can also be equipped with the "Wizard" armament packs used by the ZAKU Warrior and ZAKU Phantom.

The first thing I’m going to say about this kit is that I absolutely love it! The GELGOOG has always been a very cool looking mobile suit, but HG model kits of it have had very limited articulation due to how long ago they were made. However, the good folks at Bandai gave this one the complete modern Gunpla treatment, vastly improving the range of articulation in the arms, legs, waist, and torso, and improved the color separation as well! The result is probably the best HG GELGOOG I’ve ever gotten to build. There are a few small spots that need paint, but even if you don’t paint those bits, this is still one fierce looking Gunpla!

As far as issues go, it does have some, but they’ve honestly don’t take anything away from how I feel about this kit. First, due to the design of the head, it can’t really look up or down much. The next issue is the stickers for the backpack. They work, but they still feel a bit cheap and are tricky to apply. Especially the ones on the large wings. Despite its issues that I’ve found, this is still a really great kit, and probably the best HG GELGOOG on the market. If you’re a fan of Lunamaria Hawke, or you’re like me, and you just love badass looking mobile suits, I highly recommend picking up this kit. 😄
