Description So this file is like huge, but it's pretty concise. I've been asked a few times about how I do colour. I do have an inate eye for colour, but I shit at other things like tone but I'm working on that. There is plenty of websites that go into futher details about colour theory and there's also free apps for your phone and tablet that are colour wheels that will create a pallet for you.

This did take a long time to make especially with the fact that my tablet is on its way out and keeps cutting out on me, but if you have any questions on colour please ask away!

Also, I do recommend getting some paints. Pick up Cadium Red or Alizilian Crimson. Cad. Yellow or Lemon Yellow. Phthalo Blue or Ultramarine. Titianium white and Payne's grey and mix and create your own colour wheel for your own reference and hang it on your walls so you can stare at it everyday.

EDIT: I've made the text a bit larger. :3

I'm colorblind, so my color wheel is a mess and is better off as 'black and not black' with a section called 'this might be red'.

At least that's one career choice that's been eliminated.

Like totally blind or legally blind?

I'm like 4 graph spots away from being legally deaf but I can still hear kinda.

Totally. It was a breech birth at home during the 60s'. The membranes burst at the back of her eyes and they didn't realise she was blind until she was 2. At most she had 10% sight.

Is it a progressive deafness?

EbolaSparkleBear In reply to Somnusvorus [2016-04-11 05:10:10 +0000 UTC]

It will be progressive now

So would your mom consider eye transplants since that's going to be a thing.

Somnusvorus In reply to EbolaSparkleBear [2016-04-13 22:32:24 +0000 UTC]

Ah. How are you coping with that? :c

She said she probably couldn't qualify because her eyes are so damaged including nerves. It would be incredibly risky, especially when she's getting on a bit. :/

EbolaSparkleBear In reply to Somnusvorus [2016-04-14 00:24:55 +0000 UTC]

Not much to do besides learn sign language in the next few years and hope that transplants/bionics advance to the point I can get'er done.

I'm not a candidate for reconstruction since I am missing so much.

I dunno, advances in technology make the surgeries less invasive. You never know.
Maybe something will happen and she'll get it back for the rest of her life.

Then she gets to yell at you to clean your room.
"i got my sight back for this?!"

Hopefully something will come about.

She's been fighting to get what she lost for years now, but she's kinda accepted it now. She's a very capable woman and she goes to the gym a lot.

I have my own house so she can't say shit.

I've seen somewhere that using Cyan/Magenta/Yellow paints is more likely to come up with cheerier colors than using Blue/Red/Yellow. Do you concur?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Somnusvorus In reply to CaseMayday [2016-02-25 15:18:14 +0000 UTC]

My forte is digital painting, but I'll try my best to explain a bit about traditional painting.

CMY is usually used in printing and are known as Processed colours. These are the primary colours for printing, not painting. You can use these three colours in painting but they're still a mixture of other pigments of RBY. RBY are usually just pure primary colours. Different pigments give different results. If you mix lets say a crimson red with a cad yellow, you're going to get a different result than mixing a crimson with a lemon yellow. The colours can be stronger or muddier depending on what is mixed.

I did a little search and found this interesting little article that might give you more of an understanding.
