Description In the super simple serie : Early Spring with a natural plump Prehnite on 14Kt white gold.

Was going for a more elaborate setting but the gem didn't need one. Just a very reflective concave background, hammered texture .. and it glows

The pendant is around 1 inch tall.

Super polished setting! In fact, the cabochon had a weird cut, it was not flat in the back but domed... So I built the setting to wrap around and I polished it and burnt it like a mirror.. The effect was really funny XD I will try with another stone I have

You're right, the stone doesn't need anything more elaborate. I love meditative pieces like this where the glow just draws you in....

The silver goes so well with it, too.

I love prehnite!! Very elegant! Did you hand fabricate or cats this setting?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

somk In reply to CatsMousehold [2011-07-25 19:25:08 +0000 UTC]

Fifty-fifty... Back is cast then poked/hammered/drilled, and the setting is soldered on afterward. TY

Go with pure silver, 24kt gold or.. platinum Thanks XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skyrere In reply to somk [2011-01-12 20:46:24 +0000 UTC]

It would have to be the gold. I even react to silver because it has to be mixed with something to make it strong enough to hold up to being jewelry.
At least as far as my limited experience with it has been.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

somk In reply to skyrere [2011-01-12 20:57:31 +0000 UTC]

If you go with sterling yes (75% silver 25% copper mix)... For alchemy or even allergy reason, some people prefer pure silver. Sure it's a tad softer but if it is for a pendant, no big deal. Don't step on it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skyrere In reply to somk [2011-01-13 11:18:11 +0000 UTC]

True, but unless the necklace holding it up is made of the same thing, or just a knotted string, which is somewhat tacky, I can't wear it because it would either be too soft, or I would break out. But I will certainly be on the lookout for a way around the allergy.
