I feel so bad now! You've commented on my stuff so much, and instead of checking you out myself, I find you via someone else's favourites!

I love your HP renditions (just saw the one of Godric's Hollow too): You stay closer to the books than possibly anyone I know, and you do such gorgeous backgrounds, which most people sadly neglect (myself included).

oh I feel honoured - and you don't have to feel bad at all ... with 800 000 + (?) pageviews, all the resulting comments and a couple of little children at your feet, plus all your writing and drawing, your day must have more than 30 hours ...

Danke! Das Buch wird derzeit vor allem in meinem Kopf durchgespielt - der Tag hat nämlich irgendwie doch bloß 24 Stunden!

Hast du die Agenten-Verlage-Anschreibe-Absage-Tour schon hinter dich gebracht ("... muessen wir Ihnen heute leider mitteilen, dass Ihr Manuskript nicht in unser Programm passt ...")?
Nicht locker lassen ... und nicht zu viel schreiben ... sonst wird's teuer bei BoD!

Agenten und Verlage werden erst eingeschaltet, wenn ich was vorzuweisen habe - das kann noch dauern.

Witzigerweise kann ich mir überhaupt nicht vorstellen, das Buch selber zu übersetzen! Es hat schon nen Grund, warum ich das auf Englisch schreibe, ich mag meine deutsche Schreibe gar nicht. Joseph Conrad hat ja auch Englisch statt Polnisch geschrieben und sein Zeug auch nie übersetzt... vielleicht ist man in Fremdsprachen weniger befangen?

... uiii ... wenn man's kann, das Englischschreiben? ... wenn ich es koennte, haett ich mein Manuskript laengst uebersetzt und versucht, es irgendwo bei Britischen Verlagen bzw. Agenten anzupreisen ... die Briten haben's ja mehr mit Mittelalterlicher Fantasy

... es reicht ja erstmal, die Eingangskapitel zu verschicken und die Synopsis - wenn man dann eine Zusage kriegt, umso besser! Hat man gleich den "Druck", weiterzuschreiben auf alle Faelle: vieeel Glueck + Durchhaltevermoegen!

Sehr schön! Ich mag auch die ganzen Lichterketten, die da rumhängen, das sieht alles sehr feierlich aus. Wie groß ist das Bild denn? Es wirkt sehr klein und fein!

And I couldn't help reading in the other comments about Harry's 'saviour' aspect - for me, too, it wasn't until I had the idea of drawing this picture that I suddenly thought "Father, mother, baby, on Christmas Eve? " ... although it is also hammered home by Harry's words to Voldemort in their final confrontation.

Die Lichterketten sind mir erst in der deutschen Übersetzung aufgefallen ... "... Rings um den Platz hingen bunte Lichterketten und in der Mitte stand etwas wie ein Kriegerdenkmal halb verborgen hinter einem windzerzausten Weihnachtsbaum..." (S.332) "Strung all around with coloured lights, there was what looked like a war memorial in the middle, partly obscured by a wind-blown Christmas tree..." (BE, p.264) hmmm ... so gesehen müsste das Kriegerdenkmal in Lichterketten gewickelt sein und so sieht eben jeder etwas anderes in seiner Vorstellung - das ist das Schöne am Lesen ... I even see slightly different scenes before me when I compare reading the German and the British edition.

Oh, and thanks for the ! ... and all the best for 2008 - and keep on drawing, because "vitam brevem esse longam artem", as Seneca put it, and that leaves me nothing to add as it is the perfect quotation.

Oh, and I like plain and simple things, so I nearly always draw on DinA4 (29.7cmx21cm) 80g copy paper (and that's the size of my drawings) with a very soft pencil, ...

Das mit dem Schnee steht ja auch so im Buch ... da soll Godric's Hollow im Südwesten Englands sein - ob es da jemals wirklich Schnee hat? Aber die Autorenfreiheit lässt es eben schneien, damit die Szene stimmiger wird
