Description
Name: Ipo Vasi
Age: 20 years
Birthday: December 2
Star Sign: Sagittarius
Height: 7 ft (on hind feet) , 4 ft (when on all fours)
Weight: 500 lbs
Creature: Urailotl: Large furred beings of the sea , their fur has the waterproof oils like that of an otter. They're famous for being creatures of brute strength and their bite is known to be the most devastating attack. They are able to shoot large streams of water from their mouths and though they live in groups, they can easily adapt to being alone. On land, their fin's disappear and reappear either on command or in water. Their eyesight at night is fairly poor but in the daytime, it is excellent and detailed. However, too bright of light can be very overwhelming. Their diet is mostly fish and citrus foods and their “ears” are known to be sensitive to light breezes and currents as well as high pitched noises. They are aware of technology ( but not experienced in it) however embrace the simplicity of living in the ocean. They are able to hold their breath 10 minutes tops.
Dimension: Namel: A world that is mostly covered by water ( more so than our Earth) and submerged within this vast blue expanse is the planet's largest underwater forest. Kelp grows to almost resemble trees ( however they do not form bark of any kind and are quite rubbery when pulled out of the water. The largest some grow are up to 80 feet and are a good 20 feet in diameter.) These "trees" don't crowd around too much to where no sunlight hits the bottom of the seafloor and there are some clearings where fishermen may stop at to catch potential prey. Due to this semi-dense forest, not many see Ipo's kind close up as they mostly dwell there during the day. They are not water breathers but they are able to conceal their homes fairly well on the surface and can swim rapidly within water when escaping notice.
The single large continent of Namel (along with a few dots of islands here and there) isn't exactly the most technologically advanced. Cellphones do not exist and most communication is land-line dependent. Cars are not common sight either and any vehicles of any kind are usually used by companies to move things from here to there ( whether people/warehouse stock/ etc). Civilians usually reach places via train or bus.
The ocean also bears a lot of strange ( yet edible!) foods that make up a Namelian's diet. Fish are colorful in scale and flesh and salty-skinned fruits range from citrus-y to super sweet. While there is some land-based agriculture, sea-based is way more common. Those that live on the coast usually mark their own plots by stringing a line of thick netting around it as well as having some sort of light source hooked to it ( example is bio luminescent jellyfish creatures in jars that glow at night). Since the ocean is an important source of food, people keep any pollution of it to a minimum. There are strict laws when it comes to protecting it and are even some that regulate how many boats in each area may be out.
Some notable landmasses are a series of connected canyons that sit in the middle of the country, adding more into the variety of architecture as well as people. One notable race of people known to have first inhabited this landscape were the Cae'polus, a group of hawk people whose key features are wings ,feather like hair (none which deviate from browns, grays and black), bird like feet and a tail full of wicked spines ( like a porcupine). They're few and rare now and were originally known to be notorious bandits before a peace treaty was formed. Many a Cae'polus have certain tattoos of previously disbanded groups or marks of a traitor.
The farthest north has some icy terrain and icebergs, all of which is dangerous and not for the weak of heart. There is a chain of islands that only a couple boats go to and usually one would only go there if they were out hunting or on trading business. Some live up north, but only the hardy and strong.
Most of Namel is a mixture of cultures (there are some regions that view the ocean as being the home of some unknown goddess, another believe that another god had risen just this one portion of land for its people), but overall, most of everyone respects the sea.
The most well known beings (outside of humans and humanoids) are the Urailotl. As mentioned, they mostly keep to the ocean and are really the only sentient beings that weave about the underwater forest. The only thing that they need to survive is the ocean, hence why it's rare spotting one on land or near the shores where society could easily spot one.
Personality: He can actually be quite oblivious to sarcasm and is absolutely clueless to the idea of love (he knows a mother's love but not one with another partner). He's mostly been concerned about finding a place where he feels like he belongs and can make friends. Whether that be in some simple shop or on the World Train, he's content and willing to learn how to adapt to those surroundings as long as he's will others that are open to accepting him and working with him.
In some situations, his attempts in being silly can be deemed inappropriate, but usually he does this so that others around him keep calm. Sometimes though, these silly moments stem from his lack of knowledge on a subject and he hopes that his absurd actions will bring forth some answer. He prefers to speak through actions rather than words, but this doesn't mean he doesn't talk! Just don't expect some large speech to pass his lips unless it's really deemed necessary.
When angered, he's a bit more animalistic in reactions and actions. It takes a lot to get him truly angry, and usually the only reasons why he'd be angry is if he was protecting someone or if he truly feels threatened. He doesn't take most threats seriously ( he's always thought that his stature and animal appearance intimidated some to do so so he sort of feels like most are bluffing), and doesn't really like being angry or resorting to brute force. But if the moment calls for it, he will bring himself to be violent.
Kids or people with usually childish or bright personalities are ones he does not mind being around with at all. Having been in a circus, he prefers the smiles and child-like attitude over frowns and brooding. He doesn't mind invasion of personal space as long as he isn't snuck up upon. Its better to make your presence known before hugging/clinging onto. He does have animal instincts so he cant help but snap or claw at previously unknown presences.
History: Ipo was the runt of the family, having been born the smallest and less fierce of his brothers and sisters. While some things were easier for most average Urailotl , it was harder for Ipo to surmount. He wasn't openly mocked for his small stature or being weaker, but it was quite clear when not many played with him or he when needed help doing certain tasks .
One night, a powerful storm had rocked the oceans that he and his family lived in. They all attempted to swim away to find better shelter, but the high waves and choppy waters were too much for small Ipo. He was seperated by his family and was found washed up on the shores of Namel's only continent . From there, he was found by a woman by the name of Alena who had been strolling the beach at that time. Finding the young Ipo, she took him and brought him back to her small compartment that she lived in at a traveling circus. She nursed him back to health and , after a few days, Ipo was soon up on his feet, better than ever.
The ring leader ,after being told of Ipo's arrival, knew that Urailotl weren't a common sight and wanted Ipo to stay. However ,young Ipo had set sights on going back home. Alena, having had some maternal instincts toward the small being, had promised that if he would stay for one show. If He didnt like it, she'd take him back to the ocean . Seeing that the woman had taken care of him in his time of need, he gave her some trust and agreed.
The show he witnessed was amazing. Color and excitement and fun music and wonder. He had been dressed up with a scarf and a jacket to hide most of his features so he wouldn't be heckled during the show. After watching , Ipo had noticed one thing that he hadn't really experienced. If he stayed at the circus, people would be amazed by him, unlike before where he was regarded as something small and insignificant. After thinking, young Ipo agreed to stay, thus beginning his training.
He started out small, only being a sort of side show star. However, when he grew larger, he eventually became the main attraction. People were interested in seeing an Urailotl in close quarters and shows went from half -filled seats to sold out. The ring leader , finding that Ipo was making him much money, began to push him harder to do better stunts, better tricks , better feats so as to keep attracting customers .At some points, he was even abusive. Alena tried to persuade the ring leader to not push him so hard, however her requests fell on deaf ears.
Ipo had thought of moving back to the ocean but they were so far inland that it would be near impossible for him to go by unnoticed. Alena , however, had an idea.
They were all getting ready to have a private performance at some politician's estate. Everything had been packed on a set train and tickets were issued. Ipo wasn't too familiar with public transportation ( he didnt need to worry about driving or getting from one place to the other as long as he was with the circus) so Alena was handling their tickets. All the while, she told him how big he had gotten and how at this rate, he was practically an adult, essentially "mom talk". Ipo was startled on how this whole conversation started but one thing that stuck to him was when she had said, “ No matter how bad things are, always look forward with a smile”. Smiling had been an important factor in him being in the circus but the way she had said it, it seemed more intimate than just a lesson.
They were just about ready to set off. Everyone save for the two of them had boarded and the ring leader was out looking for them. Alena had purposely lead them to a different train, telling Ipo that this was his only escape route. He was confused at first, however he was ushered onto the World Train just as the ring leader was making their way to them. Before the man had a chance to get on to seize Ipo, the Train was already chugging off . The last thing Ipo remembered was Alena managing a wave as she held off his angry former employer.
Skills:
Telepathic Talk: He doesnt move his mouth when talking and instead projects what he says. However, the distance is like that of a normal person talking. The farther away you get , the fainter it is.
Thunderous Roar: At close range, its quite explosive on the eardrums. Not enough to really blowout an eardrum, but to those with more sensitive hearing, it may be harmful.
Torrent: A powerful stream of water shot from the mouth, it is replenished if Ipo drinks enough water. First use is the most powerful ( however this requires adequate hydration!) By the third use, it's not as affective (if he is not near a water source to siphon off of)
Weaknesses:
-Electricity ( he is a being that retains a lot of water within his body. He's more susceptible to being greatly affected by this element by either magical or non-magical means [Non-magical: exposed electrical current. Magical: Some one summons/use a bolt of lighting)
-Super Bright light or darkness ( both are hard to see in and can hinder his eyesight)
-His “ears” are his most sensitive feature on his head. A high pitched screech or wail will cause him some pain. If it goes on long enough, he'll have a massive headache. Also, any hit to them are pretty effective!

Pet: N/A
Relationships: Alena: His mother figure and friend. They were really close as he grew up and though it saddens him that they are seperated, he knows that she did it so that he didn't have to endure the hardship and abuse he received while with the circus. (she wouldhave joined him but she has family to worry about)
RP Sample:
The small creature was struggling to keep up with the group. Above, thunder boomed, the sky a darkening mass of angry thunderhead and storm clouds. The waters , usually a peaceful blue that welcomed any swimming being, was now a churned dark, menacing mass of seafoam and titanic waves. It was obvious that he wasn't going to make it far, but Ipo couldn't just give up! His small hands and feet paddled, his tail keeping him on course. However, he could feel his energy slowly being sapped. For every foot he gained, he was knocked three back. He tried calling out, but the noise of pelting rain, roaring thunder and crackling lighting drowned him out. There was a sudden pull and just as he thought he could make it, a mammoth wave curled above him. There was a brief sight of his mother stopping to see where he was before the wall of water swallowed him whole, thrusting him underneath the surface to the hectic currents below and away...
