I snapped the shot just while a flock of pigeons flew by.

Kowloon - a very special place. I wish I had been there. I've always wanted to visit such 'damned/cursed/scary/or abandoned' places like this.

It's actually not damned, cursed, scary, or abandoned at all. Lots of families live there, just in very small units

I read all its population moved out and the building was destroyed in 1990s.

Well that's what you read. I was born there, and lived in that very same district, in fact less than a minute's walk away from these very buildings, although the one I lived in had much larger units. Those buildings are filled with occupants and are still standing. Kowloon is a big place

Stunning image. It reminds me of... everywhere! Nice neighborhoods are always specific to a city. "Living machines" are the same all over the world. People are there in transit like the pigeons of your photograph and yet never so free to fly away... Brilliant work. Kudos!

It's how one of their key designer, a French architect called "Le Corbusier", used to call them. In the 60's it was a positive assessment, but 50 years later it sounds terrible... Signs of the times...
