The weird colors in this shot really reminds me of (very) old two-strip technicolor movies.Curves, color balance and channel mixer in Photoshop.

The colours are straight from Japain and create a strong atmosphere. They also are calming and soft for eyes - lovely to look at. The composition is nice, there's little of everything in the photo. The fuzzy background brings a lot of motion to the picture which brings contrast to the otherwise still feeling. I don't know if this is bad, though. Rather interesting.

You're right, the colors are weird. It has a very cool Japanese feel, I think it's the reddish of the snail with the flowers, looking like cherry blossoms

Yeah, maybe it does look a bit Japanese. I'm not completely sure, but I actually think that the flowers are some form of cherry.

though it looks as the snail would have been photographed on another photo and mixed in, because the reflecting light is that sharp

I used the built-in camera flash when I shot this. It really makes the image seem like a studio photo in some ways. Might be an explanation for the snail looking like it's been mixed in.

okay, after writing my comment i "remembered" snail-houses are smooth. when thinking at this, a matt/rough fotographing of my snail wouldn't have done better either. perhaps you could reduce the reflecting light a bit, really i could think the snail isnt real..
