I've always been wierdly fascinated by cracked mud... which is a wierd thing to admit but yeah. lol. This is really great. I really appreciate photography that is mostly/totally natural elements... this has the "feel" of abstract art photography but the connective value of nature photography. *loves* Thanks for sharing this.

Wow. Just wow. The color of the petals plus the texture and lack of color of the mud is really... well, stunning.

hmmm its hard to explain what it is about this photo that appeals to me. The colors are nice...but i would have to say it goes much deeper...i look at the shot and my heart strings are pulled abit. The fact that the mud is already so dead and cracked and grey..and the petals. lively and blood read against the drap color. The sad irony will be...the petals will now shrivel and die and add the the dead mud.

I love the emphasis on the petals, but it doesn't take attention away from the mud. It's very well-balanced.

Very nice idea. The contrast here is stunning. And the color of the petals compaired to the mud is absolutely beautiful.

The cracked mud is out of this world, looks amazing and even more when making contrast with the bright red petals. For me, this photo is like broken dreams or a possibility that has passed by. Because if you wait too long, poppy [or any flower] will lose it's petals and then you might never have the possibility to see a similar one again. Great to see new work from you, alwaus thrilling to see your name on my watch list.

The red and gray go very well together in this photo. To me I interpret this photo as broken romance. Rose petals signifying love and the mud cracks signifying brokeness. I love it!

The message in this is an exceptional one, just an idea here but perhaps you would be better of holding on to it until November 11th.

I feel it might be more powerful when put alongside historical representation and armistice day would be most appropriate - that is what it made me immediately think of.

It's a great shot, but i think you missed an oppertunity there

Awesome work as always

snader In reply to CharlesHale [2005-06-24 11:26:50 +0000 UTC]

Interesting. I actually haven't heard of Armistice day before, we don't celebrate that day in Sweden. I chose the poppies because they were red, not because they are associated with that day. I agree though, it would've been quite fitting to submit this on November 11th.

I had a lot of other things in mind when i took this but that is what I really like about art, the freedom to interpret things your own way.

Thanks a lot for educating me and the great comment!

So whats the cam like? Give us your verdict. I've heard from people who have owned 300D's and upgraded that the size is a major bummer.. its too small..
