Description
This is a thing I longly dued to many other skeksis fans and TDC fans in general...After the skeksis being mentioned as "radiant, vibrant and colorful" in their early days" and later being depicted just as grey, twisty and weared as they were at the movie in official illustations lateky, I felt compelled to create some images of what I personally imagine them to have looked like.
When it is stated in original comments from 1982 by Henson and Froud about them having been "dazzling" "radiant" and such, I wanted to show what my head conceived them like at the very first days after their splitting from original UrSkek forms.
HERE you have all ten of the skeksis we see in the movie, they are rather recognizeable by their facial traits and head shapes even if nude, and I studied their withered colors into recreating what their *probably patterned* skins would be like.
I also left them feathers and hair/fur, since I have certainly spotted in the movie skeksis remnants of both things, even if sraggly and sparse (if you look carefully, almost all of them have still some wiry hair and SkekSil the Chamberlain, when banished, shows up with hair to hs head, back of the neck, and an evident layer of fur and feather in his back, which also presents quills.
Their anatomy is based off a study on the naked Chamberlain original sculpt from the 80's as depited in many pics!
I hope you will lke these fellows as I imagine they were in their first, golden days!

I wonder. Skeksis did began as somewhat benevolent. Maybe there was some inkling of benevolence somewhere? Maybe if taking time Skekok and Brea could have become friends?

Let's see, bright colours, full manes, tight skins.
I think that's nearly perfectly what I imagine the Skeksis to look like when they where young. Nearly in the sense I do think they may have been a little less wirey and skinny overall. SkekShod's body here for example still has a certain elderly quality to his build.
But this is very close to how I think they would have originally looked like nonetheless.
And ah, who wouldn't want eternal youth eh? Well... actually apperently about six out of ten people don't and some of the four that remains are pretty on the fence. But I'd love eternal youth!
And well, the thing with the Skeks is... when you have a ruled class you see as fundamentally and deeply below you... Well let's just say that if humans could extend their life and youthful vitality by draining the essence of cattle...
Of course this isn't quite like this... So... let's say past slaveowner societies could regain their youthful vitality by draining their slaves. Not only would they have, they'd probably never have abolished slavery unless they were overthrown.
So in that sense the Skeksis... well they certainly make a sort of dark and twisted sense.
And as of AoR, it seems Skeksis DO have moral agency actually. As of SkekGra.
Not to mention that as of AoR it seems Skeksis also can have friendships, rather then just sociopathically logical partnerships (Which was how I saw them when there was just the movie.) But that actually isn't quite the case. I would say SkekOk and SkekLach were definitely friends. As were SkekZok and SkekVar. (Judging by Zok's 'Noooo!' when the Emperor banishes him.) (Which also makes the unamoth chrysilis scene more Zok being kind of annoyed at his less intelligent friend for doing something stupid again.)

Aye! ^^ I tried my best to guess out the colours of the ten old canon skeksis from the film by oversaturating them in Photoshop. The hues I went with were the ones which shone through the most when proccessing some screen captions that way. Crazy, isn't it? But keeping in mind that the old lore stated skeksis were once very vibrant, that might have been referring not only their energetic nature but also their colours!

Brilliant illustration! I love seeing how characters could have looked in their younger days. It's certainly quite a talent to make them younger, fresher, and more colourful while still being able to tell which Skeksis is which when viewing their much older counterparts. On my thoughts of their youthful appearance: SkekNa for once looks friendly, SkekAyuk is surprisingly quite charming, SkekEkt looks beautiful. The long hair really suits her/him, SkekSil seems to be more cunning rather than slimy, SkekUng is terrifying! now I believe that he killed so many Gelfling and Podlings in his prime, SkekZok I instantly recognized just by facial expression and arm pose but I love his mix of dark blue and gold yellow colours (Rich colours suit his job and personality), Nice to see SkekShod's full appearance (out of all the Skeksis he seemed to show the least of his face, really digging the blonde hair and striped feathers, SkekTek I find to look rather handsome in his younger days though I wonder what his robotic arm and leg looked like since his clothes covered them up in the film, SkekOk is Adorable! his green colour and small size would make me want to keep him as a pet if it wasn't that he's one of the most evil creatures to exist, and finally SkekSo is AWESOME! Shining cyan hair, Royal purple colour, cool tail patterns and larger more active second pair of hands; Now that's a Skeksis Emperor.

Lets give this a fresh look on my most attractive to least attractive but first here's a little insight into my reasons for the new rankings. I encourage the skeksis to read the reasons before diving into the new list. I would love to read their reactions. If you're not busy that is.
The top row look the most innocently youthful and non-threatening.
SkekSo - He looks feminine here. Wise and a bit magical. Like a wizard or white witch bathed in moonlight.
SkekOk - He looks adorable here. So adorable that I want to pick him up, cuddle him and keep him as pet.
SkekTek - He looks very sarcastic and cruel. But not as scary or threatening like his older self. I want to stroke his hair.
SkekShod - Despite what I said. Shod may have a younger body but his eyes and hair say old man to me.
SkekZok - Looks like the oldest one of group, certainly the tallest. And the smartest one.
The bottom row look older and although a few are beautifully youthful, most look threatening.
SkekUng - You look terrifyingly strong and powerful. But you also look handsome.
SkekSil - He looks more troublesome and evil here than he does when he's older. His hair puts me off. He has the hair of an evil witch. I do like his skin colour though and the expression on his face.
SkekEkt - The most beautiful of the row. But like the others a sense of manipulation in his eyes.
SkekAyuk - Again the diplomat side is non-existent here. He looks threatening. Although I do like his skin colour and his lovely shiny looking hair. I bet SkekEkt washed it for him.
SkekNa - Na, I would love to know what you're thinking in this picture. You look so sad. You don't look threatening per say but you don't look very interesting without your eyepatch and scars.

They Almost resemble theropods , that Skekung guy looks the coolest on this drawing

Many of their physical attributes are a mixture of lots of things and species, yet the overall shape is a lot like a theropod's
I tend to see them as "bizarre maniraptor-ish" creatures ^^

Personally, on my list of most... attractive, for lack of a better term, Sil and Ung would be tied for first. That would be an argument for the ages...
1 -- Ung and Sil (I love the size difference, purple/ blue, and the floof; they're both so pretty; and Sil has that Loki hair goin on)
2 -- Na
3 -- Zok
4 -- Ekt (the voice is difficult to withstand...)
5 -- Ok
6 -- Shod
7 -- Tek
8 -- So
9 -- Ayuk (IDK, his face always bothered me when I watched the movie)

HAHAH Poor Ayuk, he's said to have irked a lot of people XD...I personally find him endearingly bizarre into how very different his facial structure is compared to all others (as happens with SkekOk but in reverse: one's so round and chubby that doesn't even look like the rest, the other so thin and lenthgy snouted that looks more like a gharial than a typical skeksis

True! It's interesting to see a pudgy skeksis since the rest of them look like sticks. But the rest of them looked like birds and he always looked like a frog to me.

But what about SkekEkt's reaction? Hmmm. He was 1st place on the original list and now he's third place. SkekUng is a spot higher though still very low. SkekZok was fourth place and is third last. SkekTek was in the top five originally, now he's not. SkekSo was in the middle of list originally and he's number one. That's an achievement!!! As is SkekAyuk's who's been bumped up to 4th place. And so on....how I'd love to see the others react to this.

I do like all of purple you've used. Purple lover here! I like SkekSil's skin. But together with the hair...well he looks like witch. Whereas SkekSo's skin is more glamorous and shiny.
