Description
The map started life as part of a Cartographers Guild challenge, but quickly became a larger thing, in terms of size and concept.
The challenge was another of the awesome random generator challenges, which is where some of my other maps have come from.
Notably these - Harlasea - Grymnar ---- & ---- Iri-Oriand, Land of living Magic
This one relates to an incarnation of Time, within the story worlds that I create, which I am finding are connected through weird ways and means.
The universe is not quite as it seems, though few can perceive these differences and so see clearly the nature of the vastness.
Greyvast is part of the domains of Time, somewhat outside of the standard universe and its time and space.
The standard time and space encompasses locations like Luma and Nhyn, as well as others I have mapped or written about.
Some, which had previously not been named, lie more within this region of Time's domain.
I'll speak more of that in a future post.
Greyvast is a realm on the fringe, on the edge of life and activity.
Some would say it is a fading realm, passing even beyond the interest of Time.
It is old, that is for certain.
As Time grows and expands, new realms are created, Time's follies and eccentricities.
Stagnation, boredom and ennui are real concerns for Time, and so Time ventures into conceptualizations of ideas and thoughts taking form.
This has lead to a number of strange lands and realms with unusual circumstances or physical workings. Or metaphysical ones, at that.
Even for them being preoccupations of Time, they are, for all that, real and the lives of the little beings who inhabit them are real as well.
Or, as real as any of our lives prove to be real, and not merely simulation or collective dreams in aether.
You can check out the semi-wip thread over on the Guild - www.cartographersguild.com/sho…
There will be more posted about Greyvast, and of the domains of Time.
Have a great week, everyone. Cheers, J

I'm not sure if or when this one would make it to my INPRNT shop.

Thanks Simon
It's a nice, dark, gritty place for some adventures.
Lots of dark forest to hide the movements of mysterious menaces.

Those have been hiding away in my idea file for a while.
I did a thumbnail sketch using some icons like that some years back.
Only now getting to use them.

Love those fissures and the insets are uniquely presented. Props on the amazing amount of detail all around.

Or, it could be a baseball mood, as it struck out in the challenge
hehe, but it spawned some very cool ideas and some sketches I need to post to patreon soon.

It takes a bit longer than some styles, but I like the end result.

A great map! As a Pen & Pager RPG DM, this map whispers plot ideas in my ear left and right. I love the view point, the details and of course the art style. As a fantasy fan, flying cities are an instant win for me as well, of course.
If I had to point out some constructive critique it would be about the lettering of some names. Increasing and shrinking font size during a word looks a bit strange to me, escpecially in short words like "TOLL".
