Description An unfinished concept for the Valley of the Dead in Tkini.

I had some fun working on it, and while the overall vision I have for the valley has changed, I thought I'd share this here.

The statues and temple are the major areas I didn't finish, but there are minor background edits I would have done as well.

A little bit about it:
   - Massive stone statues of Tempest and Arri as gods. Arri's markings glow golden during the day; Tempest's silver at night. They serve at the tops of temples that lead into the tombs of the dead, wherein many of Tempest and Arri's mortal forms lay in repose. In the foreground there are other stones where the people of Tkini have buried their dead over the centuries, one section of which is blocked off specifically for the Night Assembly. Sprites and spirits linger in the valley.

Unfinished, but gorgeous nonetheless! The composition in this one-- looming tombs, tiny foreground figures, valley crushing in from both sides-- is solid, managing to feel vast and claustrophobic at the same time. I wonder if that's how death feels. The color choice is also pleasant, and I can tell you took a lot of care with the palette. Very nice job here, Siehn!

The concept of Arri and Tempest's reincarnations always fascinated me. Did they always incarnate as wolves? How often did they die together, or live without ever meeting? It's so poetic and so sweet, I really love these two!

Thank you! I really do love how this turned out, despite not finishing it. I have another temple work in progress that I'm working on, though.

They did not always reincarnate as wolves! It is the most common form, but there were times where they came back as different species; notably three times born into the large cat tribes in the savannah, and a few times as various species in the archipelago and the desert tribes. In later years, they have human incarnations as well. I don't think I've ever addressed how often they die together or go without meeting, but I know my personal thoughts on the subject are that there are probably several incarnations where they miss each other, or where one of them dies and comes back while the other is still alive (that actually happened twice while we were still actively roleplaying them). Sometimes they never get their memories back of being gods, sometimes they do. I like playing with it lol. I love that you love them and you always have really cool questions. <3

I'm working (it was supposed to be my nanowrimo project but I'm so behiiind) on the main story again. I've tweaked it a little, changed some things up. Reworked a little bit of the mythology so that it works better. And aside from that, I'm working on a sort of Tkini-adjacent dnd homebrew setting, but I'm not sure it'll go anywhere.

Aww you're super welcome! Present a solid world to me and I'll get lost in it: theories, possibilities, ideas I'd love to see explored. Your guys' Tkini world is simple yet still one of my favorites, especially for that concept of the red string of fate (always a favorite of mine, I'm sappy like that) between two tiny-but-huge gods. I'm happy to hear you're chugging along with it! It sounds like so many of us are currently working on soft reboots, so hopefully yours goes smoothly as well. Will we be seeing much here online, or are y'all keeping it private for now?

<3 Oh there will undoubtedly be sketches and things posted. I don't know that anything will be full out finished pieces, but concepts, sketches, and little short stories are likely!
