render8 [2010-08-24 06:43:57 +0000 UTC]

well you're definitely right about the volume and light of it all. definitely digging that part i think more than the actual model itself, although the model itself is fantastic, which brings me to a question, which rendering system do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shtl In reply to render8 [2010-08-24 07:18:47 +0000 UTC]

In this one, it's the inhouse rendering system of cinema4d, Advanced Renderer (AR3).It render this in 3360x3360 px with GI, AO and glossy reflection in 16mn*!
It's a very very fast and very very easy to use rendering engine.

*well, on an octo multithread machine hun?

well, i mean i know what it is, but looks really good at this point. didn't want to sound like i didn't read the title and tried to guess what it was.

lol yeah OK! Thanks anyway.
I was actually happy, because I thought you were digging the volume and light abstraction of it, which is my favorit part of it ; actually, might look paradoxic, but I do love troopers and all those war stuffs, but I'm also pretty much anti-militarist in RL ! ^^ - but damn, war design are so cool

Love the depth of field and what an awesome character design you got here, buddy!

shtl In reply to Leycuervo [2010-08-24 06:18:53 +0000 UTC]

thaaannkkss !

Yeah, it really turned out cool. The software helps a lot. It's almost like drawing, you can focus on concept nor technical modeling, it's so cool! All those things you draw easily and that are pita to modelize... Well, you'd have to get used to the basics of Zbrush, but once done... It's really funny!

Z4 ftw !

Leycuervo In reply to shtl [2010-08-24 06:45:40 +0000 UTC]

And what about Sculptris!? What do you think about that software?

I'm really behind the curve with Zbrush... it's pretty insane the stuff you can do with it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shtl In reply to Leycuervo [2010-08-24 07:14:38 +0000 UTC]

Well I never get to try Sculpitrs, neither Mudbox in fact.
Why? It's cheaper in price?

I did own Zbush for a while, (bought it for very cheap years ago ) but in this last release they did bring tools that looks like have been developed just for me ! ^^ You know, as a classic illustrator, if you work your basics, you do love human body anatomy. So usually when you come to love meka things, it's also to have fun and freedom with those anatomic details. And within Zbrush4 they are those Zspheres + Zsketch mod things, and edges cuts, man, it's just all I always wanted to do! So easy to build the skeleton, than work on muscles like topology. Organic design! And also the fact you can push details very very high without too much of a techos headache. Haha looks like I've become a Zbrush enthusiast lol !

So, if sculptris can give the same particular freedom approach, yeah certainly worth a try!

Leycuervo In reply to shtl [2010-08-24 07:27:35 +0000 UTC]

I know man, Zbrush is the real deal; as for Sculptris is from Pixologica as well and is for free.

If you try it let me know what you think about it, Although I believe Zbrush is much superior... I'm just curious.

Thanks.

NeoTendar In reply to shtl [2010-08-23 20:56:47 +0000 UTC]

shtl In reply to NeoTendar [2010-08-24 07:22:51 +0000 UTC]

NeoTendar In reply to shtl [2010-08-24 16:59:24 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shtl In reply to NeoTendar [2010-08-24 17:34:19 +0000 UTC]
