I was discussing your cosplay with a friend (I wanted to do something similar) and she reckoned she saw a dress quite similar to that somewhere. Wasn't sure if you made the dress entirely from scratch or bought a dress and altered it... so assumed (well hoped! :')) the latter and wondered where you might have got it
If it is scratch made then no worries, and kudos! It is a fantastic dress! Just hoped you might have bought it somewhere and us less talented folks might have a chance to look that good! ;D

Yes it is an altered dress. Its base was a wedding dress a friend gave to me, I spent hours and hours removing tacky lace, and ridiculously poofy sleeves, I also converted the back from an ugly, ridiculous zipper job to a lace up. It's not my creation, but boy, did we put enough hours into it. Haha
I have a new modified dress in the works for this costume, so this dress will be re-tired and cleaned up and returned to the owner.
It'll be very easy to find a dress and to do something like what I did! I want to see photos and I wish you good luck! I bet you'll look great!

Well the preparation time has certainly paid off here, must've been so much more rewarding to be standing at the con in such a labor of love!
Haha, I shall certainly post them on here when I do! This is a first time for me, and I don't have anything close to your technical expertise, but I shall certainly try my best and see what I can do!
In the mean time I'll be watching for the fantastic new posts when that new dress is finished! (:

I am really excited to see what you've done. I can't take all the credit for the work, I have my mother teaching me very closely through the wedding dress modification process, its hard work, and a bit scary to be honest!

Hahaha, i'm afraid it's only in the early development stages at the moment! :') We only have one bronyCon over here and it's not until August, but hopefully I should have it finished sometime before that. Am working with a friend of mine who's a seamstress (it's like having a real life Rarity around!) to make sure I do it right, so same here!
I'll let you know when the pictures are up though it may not be for sometime (here's looking at you, mid-April). (:
