I was thinking you turned the chamber manually. Kinda like a single-shot M1216.

Actually, the shotgun can work with a revolving cylinder. Hell, it's quicker to load than a traditional shotgun. Just drop the empty cylinder with a press of the cylinder release and pop in a new one.Β

Seeing your work, I'm starting to wonder why either Infinity Ward, Treyarch or Sledgehammer Games hasn't hired you for weapons design in the next Call of Duty games.

Not only is it a short-barreled bullpup DMR, but one with a built-in SIX12. For a precision weapon that's aggressive as fuck.

Pretty good call actually. In tight spaces you may not have time to bring the rifle to your shoulder and peer down the scope to aim. Plus well it's a known fact that shooting from the hip is not only bad for your health but also incredibly inaccurate. However that underbarrel shotgun makes getting surprised in your sniping roost survivable.

That underbarrel shotgun, it does exist, I've seen it on a weapon expo some years ago, i just don't remember the name

Oh it's the SIX12. There are some similarities, but aside from it being a semi auto bullpup revolving shotgun, it doesn't really share that many details with it.

1st. Awesome design...
2nd. Why??? If this is used as an "breach" weapon there's is no need to have it at 7.62mm. 5.56 is absolutely a brilliant weapon for close quarter, at the same time it will take down taker out to 400 meters (If you are a good shooter 600 meters). 5.56 makes it light enough to to not loose to much accuracy by having a shotgun underneath.Β
3rd. If it is a support weapon, why have both shotgun and 7.62mm?Β
As a support weapon the 7.62 is an formidable size. but the shotgun underneath would make the weapons system unstable and therefore loose some accuracy.Β
Just my thoughts...

I don't want to be rude, absolutely not. I really appreciate your feedback, but usually I honestly don't put that much thought on practicality.
For me PMG is 80% about aesthetics and cosmetics.
The idea was to have a marksman rifle with a backup CQC shotgun for when things get nasty.
I'm sorry if I disappoint you with this. Again, I really appreciate your comments and I'm always looking forward to them. Thanks, man.

Absolutely brilliant, though how hard would it be to make the shotgun trigger closer to the main trigger group? It would be more complex but I think the payout would be worth it.

buckyalt In reply to Shockwave9001 [2015-10-25 14:02:26 +0000 UTC]
Well actually it's not as fictional as you think, it would be fairly easy from an engineering standpoint to have a 3rd point on the fire selector that would tie the main trigger to a triggerish thing under the barrel that would lock into whatever accessory you have under there (GL, SG, etc.). Hopefully that makes sense, I'm not quite sure how to put what is in my head to text form. It would be more complicated sure but entirely possible. Of course whether or not it would be worth the complication is up for debate. Personally I like it because then you can reshape the shotgun to better act as a grip without requiring the protruding trigger group.Β

Yeah having it be interchangeable would make the janky trigger system a bit of a bother, unless . . . . you used an electronic trigger Β At that point you may as well leave it as is since electrical systems on firearms is mostly uncharted territory Β .

True. And while they *may* be the future... They don't like water, are easier to break I think.
Though while thinking about it I surely can come up with a lot of cool things electronic to implement into firearms mechanics.
