BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THIS ONE COMING.Heh, I dunno what to say, really. I grew up on wonderfully cheesy old-school science fiction, courtesy of my dad, and I recently just got the gigantic urge to do a picture of Team D.U.D.E. in an old-school scifi setting. That's all. You know, the loud, wild color schemes, huge panaromas of stars in the background all the time, chrome all over the goddamn place, silly outfits and a synth-heavy soundtrack. The retro future.
So this is the outcome. I'm reeeaaaaally proud of how this came out, guys. It's definitely going in my portfolio. There's no real story, this isn't TD canon whatsoever. I just felt the crew would fit into this sort of thing real well.
They seem to be enjoying running away from whatever for the most part, though. Maybe they're doing something illegal. I totally referenced the not-that-well-known scifi picture book 'A Tour Of The Universe' (1980) for this.Team D.U.D.E. characters belong to me. Cheesy old-school science fiction belongs to the ages. (Oh, and props to =Scully7491 for the various brushes.)
You can almost hear Tangerine Dream in the background.

Dirk seriously needs a mullet for occasions like this. You just can't do 1980's sci fi without a mullet.

Despite how I do so love the porn 'stache, the crazy heels and Lucy's fashion-donts I gotta say, the background is really swell and my most favourite part. I have this thing for rendering night skies, and when OTHER people render them it helps me skip the middle man (aka: drawing them myself) and gets me right on into the "OH GOD I LOVE A NICELY RENDERED NIGHT SKY."
Running poses are my favourites. And the colouring on this is damn fine- way to colour your lines like it ain't no thang. You rock, Sheana. And I hate you, jerk. p.s. let's all admire that dynamic shading. OOO. AHH.

I have to admit, though, the first thing to go through my head when I saw this was 'WTF happened to Lucy's hand?!' Glad to know this has nothing to do with Team D.U.D.E. cannon. You had me worried, there, for a moment. *gets all protective over Lucy*
Anyway, most of the rest of what I want to say everyone else has said already, but I love the costumes, and the chrome, and the everything else.

There are just so many things I'm lovin' about this picture. Sonya's neon bling, Lucy's cyberhand ... the scary yet appropriate return of Dirk's moustache ... but mostly, I think, I'm charmed by Gunther's love of the lesser gravity. He's not running so much as bouncing away ... XD

Your new coloring style kicks all sorts of ass. You even have them reflecting on the background glass! Incredibly yummy.

SPACE RINGS. They defy the laws of physics AND look bitchin. This is great. I'd be proud too, the characters have come so far and this whole concept is very exciting. Maybe one day in the near future this will revive GOOD cartoons on television

Seeing this from start to finish was pretty awesome. You've heard it all before from me but I think this is totally awesome and slick looking. I like the subtle patterning and the glow effects a whole lot. Also way to pull off a hard light source like back lighting, jerk.
Dirk's moustache still cracks me up. Same with Lucy's "Nobody else seems to be concearned about whatever is behind us" face. And Sonya's heels. I'm also in love with the way you did the background. Liek woah, to use an old internet phrase.

Basically this is the best thing ever because I grew up on old scifi (although more really old b-&-w scifi, but a little of the crazy stuff you're talkin' about), and MAN OH MAN THIS MAKES ME HAPPY.
