My theme is perfection. Horseback riding in general is about perfection. Especially jumping, it is life threatening to not be perfect. The slightest shift of weight in the middle of a jump can send both the horse and rider tumbling to the ground. The other connection this picture has to perfection is the specific subjects. The horse, Gem Twist, is one of the most amazing and perfect jumping horses ever. His rider, Greg Best, rode him to perfection, and together, they won the Horse of the Year honor, and won medals at the 1988 olympics. He won the Horse of the Year honor again, and then was named the "World's Best Horse". If being the world's best horse isn't perfection, I don't know what is. Sadly, he was retired in 1997, then euthanized on Nov. 18, 2006.

I have no idea how long this took... probably about 4 or 5 hours.

EDIT: I upped the contrast a bit and reduced the noise.

yeah I found that using references really helps. (it does help to know what the thing you're drawing looks like xD)

yes, i love this picture. i horse back ride alot. and im just learning how to jump. it's so terrifying yet. i keep doing it ^^ this piece really is quiet amazing.

Wow, this is beautiful! I love the way you put in detail. I really have a spot for monochrome works like these. The horseback rider sure looks like he is very determined to reach the finish line with his horse.
