I think you did perfectly.. I can't appreciate any difference in expression... from the ref to your draw.. I've seen both a couple of times trying to find out the differences but I couldn't.. so don't be modest, you just did it perfect!

I may be a freak, but my favorite parts are the shading on the pearly beads (they look pearly!) and the short strokes of the hair that fade into the background. The hair-background interplay is the bane of my existence, but you've really nailed it here.
