It was inevitable that I would draw this. The idea had been tempting me ever since I read the book Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer. If one enjoys a good romance and vampires, I'd certainly recommend this interesting piece of literature.In a conversation with on her own recent Twilight fanart it was mentioned that Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory in HPIV) would make an excellant Edward if a movie was ever to be based off the book.
I did use a picture of Robert Pattinson as inspiration, but my final piece ended up looking nothing like the picture except for the pose, and I'm actually very glad of that. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this portait; it's one of the first colored pencil portaits I've done. I've probably invested over 24 hours of work into this one and I hope it shows.
If nothing else, there's now at least one more piece of fanart for Twilight out there!

wow. that's good. i want to do some fanart for twilight, except that i am about 99.9% sure i'd mess it up and i don't really want to do that seeing as the book is so good that it doesnt deserve my mistakes

Thank you for the compliment. I'd love to do another one of these portraits, but I don't think I could achieve the same effect...I've always wanted to do Alice; she's my favorite character. But oh well!!

The hair is amazingly done, but I think the lips could be a little fuller. You got the paleness down though. The topaz eyes too. Overall great job!

thank you very much! The lips are definitely my least favorite part. I had a lot of trouble getting them drawn and colored. When one has no blood inside them, lips are very hard to render....

Beautiful, beautiful job on the hair. Glad I'm not the only one who invisioned him with longer hair- I mean, while he doesn't need the extra help, bangs are sexy. XDDD You are a pencil god far, far above me. And the eyes too. Might have liked a bit more color to the lips, but that's my only complaint. ^^
By the way, I'm thinking of starting a Twilight club on DevArt. Would you be interested?

I have to admit. This is how Edward looks in my mind. He came out exactly as I pictured him. Longer hair is just sexy.

Ah...I thought you probably did...but it is amazing the number of people who are obsessed with the book and don't know that...And I also have a 'thing' for guys with longer hair....I shudder when I see Edwards with the like really short hair and I'm like "But that looks Nothing like him!" Ooh I love this! I like the way you made his skin so pale. On many of the fanart, his skin isn't pale enough for how he is portrayed in the book. You did a good job on this. I also like the eyes. And the hair. People always give him shorter hair...I like yours very much. And Twilight is like awesome! Oh yah and thanks for commenting on my flower... My best friend went almost the entire book picturing him with black hair (I don't know how, but she did) and most of the fanart I've seen gives him blonde hair. As a brunette myself, I am proud to color Edward with brown hair, because bronze/auburn is a lot closer to brown than any shade of blonde. And I have a major 'thing' for guys with longer hair.
*grins* Thanks for the thought about New Moon, but I check the Lexicon every day for new informaton, and Stephenie's website at least every other day. I can't wait!! For the chapter or the book itself. I think the story is only going to get better.

The colouration of the skin works really well, good contrast in textures. Eyes very dramatic!

Wonderful portrait of Edward. Great job with the coloring. Color pencils are rather hard for me, and the detail and textures in this are incredible.
