Description Had to try out DA's awesome new Muro feature [link] so I did so in the "Draw a Dragon!" thread in [link] Such a cool idea. Good stuff DA!

Since a bunch of people have asked the same question: The reason why this is smaller than a regular Muro isn't by some hidden Muro feature. It's because this was created in the DrawPLZ forums. So in order to put it in my gallery as well I had to save the image and resubmit it so I figured I might as well crop out the extra blank space with PS. The image hasn't been edited besides the cropping though.

It definitely takes a bit to get used to. Gets weird when the net's choppy too.

Honestly, the way I usually try to find my way in new art tools is to start with an image where I have no expectations set. Just mess around doodling something random and play around with all the brushes and sliders. If you happen to create something you like and you want to add detail to it but are worried about messing it up, add layers and continue drawing on the layers. You can always delete those or adjust those layers separately without it affecting the other layers. And ctrl+Z is your friend. It's the Undo function, which undoes the last thing you did. Which is very handy. Changing the opacity and softness of a brush is also very handy for when you don't just want to stack solid colors on top of each other. It helps blend things and add more subtle details.

So yeah, having something specific you want to draw in mind when you're starting out with a new tool often just ends up being infuriating, because it usually doesn't work out like you were hoping, so playing with it and doodling random things until you have a good idea of what everything does, helps with that a lot I find.

I haven't really, no. The only book with a dragon in it I've read was The Hobbit.
Don't have a whole lot of time to read unfortunately. But I'll add that one to my list of books to check out when I can. Thank you.

Okay. That's fine if you end up not reading it, it's a long book series anyways. 7 books, about 400-500 pages in each book.

It was a result of messing around with a bunch of the different brushes. Muro is a pain to get used to at first though yeah.

Not too long, Muro was brand new then so it was just an experiment. Didn't want to put too much time / seriousness in there and have the submit button bug out on me at the time hahah.

I used a mix of the Webink, Basic and Nightmare brushes. They're all in the standard brush set.
