Description I guess the title covers it all. use your "artistic sense". Yes, there really is meaning behind this image. I'm trying out different styles to see how they work, so feedback would be great.

Mm... I love this... you have mastered the art of stunning beauty encased within simplicity.

I'm sorry I can't give more constructive advice... your work just stuns my mind for too long to think of critique.

Beautiful Grace, really. Some of the lines look a bit pixleated, which is somewhat annoying, but its obvious to see that the it doesn't disrupt the composition of the piece. I really love this.

I really like this... I think it shows that you can never stop growing.... no matter how many types of styles of art you've tried or whatever else is out there, that you just can't stop growing... (if you could grow fully & completely understand art, it would be boring.... cause wouldn't knowing everything be boring?) so whenever ya think your done, it just means there's more out there for you, just waiting to be found by you...

I think it looks awesome!^_^

Looks gorgeous, Grace! I love the pinks and greens together, and it looks very different for you. In a good way, of course, though. Great job. I really like how you varied the use of lines. Some with, some without.

smashmethod [2006-01-15 19:53:58 +0000 UTC]

Wow, that's stunning. I wouldn't mind waking up to a 30x40 of that hanging on my wall. Not to mention that pink is my favourite color, so it's got that going for it too. I've been aiming to make some similar pieces recently, though none of them ever panned out. I can never seem to know where to start.

I suppose a lot of it is that I don't want to take the time to make up some nice vector illustrations to work with, I just want to have the elements, and be able to work with an manipulate them. Any background information about where you started, or what the general approach was would be kind of nice to have. But then again, it's always up to the artist to have his/her own little secrets too.

Anywho... definitely a favourite addition from me. Keep 'em coming.

(there's a print version, I guess it's waiting to get approved)

Starting wasn't actually the hard part, it was adding elements and making them fit into the image without ruining it. The nice thing about this that i noticed is that because there are so many elements, you don't have to be excessively detailed with the individual parts - just as long as they look somewhat like they're supposed to, it works out. For this piece, when i started i had the girl, and (lol this is a great reason) didn't like the mouth. I'd already decided not to show part of her face, so it didn't require much thinking to add the flowers. One flower led to another, and then towards the end i just worked on the parts that looked empty.

I dont know if that helps, but i'm not sure if i could explain any clearer than that. It helped a lot that i also had a sort of "theme" in mind when starting - so you know what elements to pick, and how to add them.

Ah, thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention the wonderful colors in the first comment. I think those greens and yellows work perfectly.

As for the print... I'd imagine since it was made in illustrator, you can get the print any size you'd like. Any chance of a super-huge print being available? Which sizes did you submit for?

ser In reply to smashmethod [2006-01-15 21:22:27 +0000 UTC]

i submitted at the 1.00:1.20 ratio which only had two options. the biggest is 20x24. if you want i could add a bigger size..?
