Description
This is Yvette "Penance" St. Croix, a Generation X character with a seriously freaky past.

To put it simply - someone else was transformed into what you see above, then was taken to another dimension, fed on for years, came back, switched bodies (so that the first person was free, but two others were stuck in the body instead), then somehow those two other people were freed while body survived as an entity on her own.
Her powers? She has skin as hard as diamond, can disappear in the shadows, and absorbs negative energy in order to keep her skin that hard. Or something. She's a mute and it has been hinted that she's deaf.. she's very agile and animal-like, acting mostly on instincs. She's used to being alone, and loves peace, quiet, serenity, nature, and has this strange obsession with apples.

Penance is such an awesome character, most definitely my favourite. I'll be trying to do lots more drawings of her, though knowing me and my habits of procrastinating I don't know whether I'll be able to keep my word.

This picture was done because I wanted to draw her in Evolution style; that obviously didn't work out, and it became a mix between a whole bunch of styles. I was planning on cellshading it, by the way, but then I got to the highlights on the leather... and then I was suddenly knocked out by the smudge tool, reawakening several hours later to find all cellshading had been smudged to what it is now.

I like the leather; I'm quite proud it actually kinda looks like leather. Well, it looks more like leather than the leather in the X-Men: Evolution show, anyway. There it's just pure black with some scribbly white slapped on.
I like the face; it turned out better than I had thought it would. I especially like the eyes, they look good even without pupils

I do not like the hand and foot. Especially the hand turned out pretty shapeless, mostly because I didn't bother to spend much time highlighting or shading it.
I also do not like the hair. I went a bit overboard with all the spikes and I really should've spent more time on the shadows and highlights.
I do not like the outlines. I've been spending a lot more time on outlines the last few months, only to have them turn out quite crappy.

The background was, I admit, done in less than a minute. I couldn't think of anything, didn't wanna work on it any longer (though I did enjoy drawing/colouring this, which is rare), and just slapped on some purple. Because I like purple; and because red and blue are the main colours in this pic. I figured a mix between the two would work.

Wow, I usually don't write descriptions this long! I'm surprised. Though this also means half of the people seeing this won't read this; probably more than that. So I'll just shut up now.
