KSKDFHSLKDJFH i am late but i cannot cope with the fact that somehow Porthos managed to jump clear, and not only that but he managed to do it in the second fastest time.
Which means my two lovely boys come home with a second place at their first HCL event!
(things can only go downhill from here XD)

This is also a little tribute to the amazing Emii-M who featured Cavan in the BG of their entry (Femmes Fatales ) in this mind blowing outfit XD
Suits my crazy ginger to a T and i couldn't resist him surprising and horrifying Ryan with it.

"Ryan!"

The familiar voice over the general bustle caught his attention for a moment, making him pause in his efforts to loosen Portho's gear before they walked back into the stables to untack.

"RYAN, YOU DINGUS!"

Ryan turned, realising whose voice he was hearing. "Cavan...... what are you...." The sight that greeted him left him speechless.

"CONGRATULATIONS DUDE! You guys fucking killed it!"

"Thanks, I.... what are you doing here?"

"Thought i might come and cheer you on as a bit of a surprise." The red headed larrikin grinned wide and flung his arms wide and wiggled about in case Ryan had somehow missed the garish and frankly horrifying body paint and booty short combo that the Irishman was sporting. "What do you think?"

Ryan snorted and found his voice again, "Yea cheers mate, but WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU DRESSED LIKE THAT?"

"Well, i'm here as a supporter... couldn't rightly do that without wearing the team colours and getting the fans going in the crowd."

"Right..."

"Almost got into a mascot war with someone in a Flamingo gear. These foam hands make pretty decent boxing gloves when it comes to it, but luckily they were good fun and we had a bit of a laugh between rides."

Porthos snorted and skittered sideways as Cavan waved the foam hands around. "Sorry boyo," Cavan pulled them off and calmed down, reaching out to let the stallion approach and sniff him before giving him a gentle nose rub until he got sick of the attention and tried to nip him. "Rude, and after i came all this way to watch you."

Ryan laughed and loosened the girth, patting the Porthos on the shoulder as the impatient horse shuffled around and tossed his head. "I would say its that horrendous outfit bur i think hes just ready for his bath and dinner."

"Yea i know the feeling. You don't want to know how much this paint is itching."

"Yea i think i'm good without that information." Ryan smiled, his friends infectious enthusiasm had stuck and he clasped his hand. "Thanks for coming Cavan, it means a lot."

Cavan smiled back at him, shrugging and patting the younger man on the shoulder. "Well it felt wrong you riding at this level without some sort of cheer squad. Everyone else couldn't get out of their commitments but i figured out a way to make it work around my next competitions and thought it might be fun to take you out to dinner. Especially now that it needs to be a celebration! Neaghe will be kicking herself that shes not here to watch you two take out second place in your first ride for the team!"

Ryan shrugged and looked at the rug and ribbon that his horse was still sporting. "I don't know how the hell that happened... thought for sure we had dropped some rails given how hot he was at the start. Took quite a while to get him to listen but i think the close call with the water what what shocked him out of that tantrum. Honestly i'm just glad its over and that we didn't completely disgrace ourselves."

"Well hes a tough horse to ride, even when you are used to him. There aren't many ex-racers at this level and hes still young. it takes a while to get used to this kind of atmosphere even for horses that haven't been trained to race. You know he just needs time and experience." He rested a hand on Ryan's shoulder, giving him a reassuring squeeze. "We have faith in you. You should have heard the commentary. They were aware it wasn't the most polished round, but even they were impressed with how talented he is despite the attitude, and that's all thanks to the work you have put in with him. Second place in an international event like this is a huge accomplishment for you both and can only be a good sign of what is to come as he matures further."

"Cheers mate. Its hard not to get intimidated by the quality of the riders and horses here." He patted Cavan on the back out of reflex before cringing and looking down at his blue smeared hand. "What about i take you along with Porthos and i can hose you both down at the same time? That paint has got to go."

"You just want to get me all wet you minx." Cavan shot him a saucy look before they both cracked up laughing.

Sick and tired of waiting around, Porthos let out a loud squeal at a passing horse and pawed at the ground. "Yea all right, all right." Ryan rolled his eyes and gathered the reins and his gear. "Why don't you go and wash that appalling paint off and then we can meet at my hotel for dinner. There is a proposal that i promised William that i would ask you, though i didn't expect it to be in person."

"So just the paint, You want me to keep the shorts?"

"God no, those you can burn. I don't think i will ever be able to burn the image of you in booty shorts from my memory." Ryan shook his head as Cavan waved at a group that were staring at him as they walked by. "No one will be able to unsee those shorts."

"You can borrow them if you like them that much. Though there may be paint in unmentionable plac..."

"SEEYOUFORDINNER!" Ryan turned and smartly walked in the other direction and away from anything else horrifying that Cavan might suddenly decide to share. He was one of his best friends but there were some things that were best left unsaid.
