Description Thanatos is a OOAK (one of a kind) seahorse/ hippocampus sculpture.

He is about 7 or 8 inches tall to the highest point, made from polymer clay over wire and foil. He has inset resin eyes, and little jewels stuck on throughout his body. His fins are made from film and were melted in places to harden and stylize them. He was painted in acrylics and pearlescent powders so is very sparkly, and his mane is tibetan lamb fur.

He was a lot of fun to make. I haven't done film fins in a long time. The scales took forever to sculpt but I like how they turned out.

He will be for sale in my etsy shop, link is in my journal footer.

Ive always loved your sculptures, especially those of the equine sorts. They have such stunning personalities and are such a pleasure to look at. I just love how you manage to capture all the details like the wrinkles of the neck, the prominant veins on their faces, and the amazing muscle structure! Great job as usual!

I have always loved model horses and have always wanted to sculpt my own. I haven't worked much in polymer clay--mostly in ceramic clay, in which I can't create horses in the size that I would like to (such as the traditional Breyer size) . Maybe I should give polymer with armature a try!

I did ceramic when I was younger, and it was great, but polymer is a lot cleaner and easier. I still miss being elbow deep in mud though! You should, it's always good to try new things

From the thumbnail on the front DA page I thought he was a modified horse figure; and I was still impressed.
The fins and scalework look amazing, and the transition between horse and fish is done very well.
The only slight thing I would say is that his expression looks a bit frightened or in pain. Of course, if your aim was a haunting look, it would make it.
An overall astounding piece.

I can only imagine what you will be charging for this marvel.

Thanks so much! He was a lot of fun to make. I didn't intend him to have a haunted look initially, but once he was done and painted it sort of fit. I try to let the sculptures I do make their own expression. Some that were meant to look angry turn out docile, it all depends Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
