Description I am new to acryl. This is my second painting, which is fully done in acryl. Also - my second painting on canvas (yea.. I'm new to them too)!
I drew this yesterday, after returning from a unbelievable huge artist supply store. I wanted to go to such shop already long time ago, however I always had more important things to do... Like, for example, doing nothing. But well, it doesn't matter, cuz yesterday we (me and my boyfriend) finally made it and returned home with 6 different sized canvas and some more acryl colors. And this was one (and first) out of 3 drawings I made yesterday night.
I liked it so much, that after it was done I started to regret the fact, that I drew it on one of the the smallest canvas I had. So today I decided re-draw it on the big ones, however it was impossible for me to get the same nice lookings... *sigh* Lesson learned: acryl is not made for copying things.
Anyways. I'm uploading the small version now, and maybe some other day I will upload my very first drawing I did in acryl. They both - same sized - are now nicely hanging on the wall next to my computer, in order to mark the new beginning of another painting style!

Straight away this deviation caught my attention. I felt compelled to view it - its bright, warm colours contrast perfectly with both the dark silhouette of the tree, as well as the delicate pink and white of the blossom.

It is a combination of soft, blended colours and detailed, sharp painting that draws the viewer's eye in.

One small criticism - the idea is in itself, slightly clichΓ©. You will see many deviations of images similar to this. However, this is excellently executed and you should be proud of yourself considering that this is only your second painting in acryl, and a new substance for you.

You have captured the form and idea of the tree and its blossom, as well as made it stand out from the light a dreamy background competently.

Overall, good work; and I hope you do more paintings in acrylic!

Yea, I am actually working on several new ones already. Ever since then - acrylic has become my number 1 medium for painting now, which is kind of surprise for me. I never thought I could like "wet" techniques and always sticked to the pencils. Im very happy however that my thoughts have changed, because thats like uncovering hundreds more possibilities for me!
And You're absolutely right - floating trees are rather common concept, yet it allows a lot of freedom for artists own variations. It is really good to hear that mine stands out in its own way too!
Thank You again for the critiques, I appreciate the time You invested for those.

This is very beautiful. I love how the colors transition from one into the next. Very nicely done. Also, the highlights and shadows on the tree itself are very well done as well and are in good taste. ^_^ I really like this one.

absolutely adore the colors and gradients are freaking hard to do in acrylic, so kudos on capturing that effect

i really really love the effect of the vertical strips of dirt & flowers. Its so much like a fluid haha

A strange and alien world, home to a single tree which seems to drip colour. Thoughtful, peaceful and prone to making one wonder, it's a very delicate and well-done piece.

lovely colours and very well done to say it's only your second try with acrylic! you managed to fade and blend the colours really well which is something i know i struggle with. a bit of variation on the colours of the blossom/flowers on the tree would have improved this slightly, but it's nothing too major!

well done, keep it up

Thank You for an advice! Blending acrylic is indeed hard, because it dries away very fast. I managed to do that, because the canvas are rather small sized

Acryllic? I thought that paper seems familiar. Nice tree?

Thats painted on canvas, not on a paper. Unfortunately I failed to make an acrylic drawing on the watercolor paper so far, because paper tends to curl around when wet...

This is a really nice painting, nice colours and the detail on the tree. The only thing I can say to improve is the bottom half - is the tree on water or is it floating? I can't tell. Then again, it is in the surreal catergory so I guess it doesn't matter.

It was supposed to be floating one Thanks for advice! Acrylic was really hard to handle at my first uses. I tried to draw a bigger version of it later, but I screwed transitions
