After a year of doing almost nothing for my art, I finally got back on the road!

This small drawing came into being yesterday night. Took me few hours today to finish it. I still consider myself new in Acryl, because there are so many things I do wrong and even more things I cannot do at all! =] For example details and smooth straight lines are things that still needs a lot of my practice and patience. Nevertheless I got surprised how well it turned out after an eternity of not drawing anything.

To start off with, the piece's bright colours immediately call to the eye's attention. The image in your imagination has been well captured here, and although the detail in the image isn't always there - the house in particular; it's outline is a little uncertain - other parts show good use of both the paint and brush.

The use of spattering colours has worked very well in adding to the dreamy, storybook style of the painting. Also, the combination of the daylight-coloured grass and the night sky, separated perfectly by the house and its black colour.

One detail of the image I particularly love is the lines of their colour suspending them from the clouds. The technique here really stands out from other traditional works around similar themes I've seen.

Just something to note as an artist - this piece caught my eye, but didn't really stand out, in my opinion. When I first began writing this critique, I found lots of points I thought you could work on, but the more I have looked at it, it really has grown on me. I now find myself tripping up on my words in wondering how to tell you every part of the image I like without repeating myself; so I'll let you know that overall, I enjoyed this piece, but if I were to give you a point to improve on, I'd say to give the piece a greater impact, so that a viewer wouldn't have to look at it for a few minutes before really liking it - make it more of an instant favourite. I'd also improve on the picture by making the outline of the house clearer, sharper. Otherwise, this image is wonderful!

Thank You so much! What You said will really help me working on my further paintings. I have been developing my skills particularly on details, because as You can see in this painting - small things like stars for example are pretty messed up, because I used bigger brush then needed. I was also struggling a bit getting few transitions to blend seamlessly, since I work with heavy body acrylic. Thats one of the reasons why the sharp lines are missing - I was afraid that in a process of adding more color to an outline I would just screw it up.
It is really good to know, what I should focus more on in the future! Thank You very much for Your time to help me out on this! I appreciate that a lot

love the colors & the light on the hill. Also, the inky black that appears to be in antigravity on the edge of the hill is awesome
and no worries, straight lines can be really hard in acrylic ^ ^ rulers and tape can help with that. maybe a tiny brush would be beneficial too if you want to make smaller details

Yeah, tiny brush would have been an advantage there... Unfortunately back then, when I was painting it, I had a wrong one in my hands
I never tried ruler however, but that sounds like an awesome idea. Thank You!

It's got a whimiscal quality, it could be in a kid's storybook. Some shadows on the moon from where the cloud covers it would be nice, but that's a small thing.

I really love your color choices for this. I like the speckles of paint to add some more texture or something to the painting and the way you've painted the clouds is great.

I adore how you've coloured the grass here! It looks like if you touched it, it would feel like moss..?
And it looks so green and lush <3 Also love the detail in the sky here ^^

I just want to go running through this scene. Everything looks so soft, I love all the little lights and pieces of detail across the canvas. It's got a real storybook feel to it, the grass looks like I could curl up and go to sleep in it.
