I like to think that:
Amon is either Kohs' child,
the bug-dude here has a mom so what the hay why not a whole family?
Koh himself walking around as a human some way or another,
could get into some sweet puppet work there haha Koh is so a Shade ha.
Amon was a lost child and Koh found 'em and took 'em in, aw 'daddy' and 'baby'.
Mahaha, look out Avatar you and the sly trolling bug shall meet again, just you wait.
Oorrrr I like to think that Amon is the wayward benderless secret child of Katara and Zuko,
oh the possibilities on how Koh took said bastard in gasp. Hehe Mordred gone Avatar oh.

I wonder if it's still possible that Koh had some involvement in Amon's history, despite Book 1 being finished. Probably not, but oh well.

yeah, i doubt it :[ i dont get much of an impression based on how things are going thus far in the series that we'll see much in the way of a reprise of spirits we've seen before, though i really hope we do. i think one of things that is interesting about the spirits is that they're not human, they have a different concept of time and continuity etc. it bothers me a little that they get treated so far in this book (spirit) as phenomena rather than characters in their own right.

Yes, and the spirits seem to have unique ideas about good and evil as well. I was hoping that the spirits would have an actual character leading them, possibly the spirit of a rogue former avatar or something else that heavily influences the spirit world. It's looking more and more like Unalaq is manipulating the spirits, and I'm hoping that they'll grow out of his control and turn against him. Only time will tell.

This is awesome. This just looks awesome. The way Amon sit with his mask and his head lead our eyes up towards Koh. It sorta like a picture that shows whats about to happen, or already has. And theres emotion in it. Think of it, losing your face.

Creepy, but awesome idea. I like how the only light colors in the picture are Koh and Amon's masks.

See this is kind of hard to believe cuz while Koh has issues with the avatar he plays by the rules so idk how he can involve himself in otherly world manners.

I'm sketchy on others but number one is spirits cant intervene in the human world. That's the reason they made the Avatar to bring balance to the human world without their interference only if by randomness humans wonder into the spirit world like Iroh did once can Koh really...do something. He never broke the Rule so unless Amon wondered into the spirit world himself and met Koh I don't know. My theory is that Amon met a Sea-lion turtle remember before the elements where bent the energy itself was used to bend and the sea-lion turtle taught Aang that. Now Amon is not evil I believe that much he isn't out for world domination or destruction he wants equality only problem is he is a extremist.

well most of this comes from what i have seen on the series no spirit interferes with human affairs Koh included he stole Ummis face to punish the avatar whose name eludes me. Koh still never left the spirit world to do so dragging her to the spirit world by trickery so its a very safe assumption. Only other time a spirit interfered in the human world was that panda spirit but because the war was officially affecting the spirit world negatively that time.

ok then, better informed on where you're coming from, I will now present my rebuttal, lol.
1. I never actually suggested that Koh might have left the Spirit World. I didn't really put much detail in, but the bg is supposed to be his lair. :\
2. Koh deliberately took Ummi's face to punish Kuruk for his arrogance. Now we're dealing with another Avatar who is somewhat arrogant about her bending powers, along with a society that is less and less spiritual. I find it plausible that he might, especially if asked and/or presented with an opportunity and/or willing agent, make a move on a somewhat grander scale to take the Avatar or the whole society down a notch.
My theories are pretty vague and at this point left to 'Koh is somehow involved with Amon', since we know so little about the spirits and the Spirit World and Amon himself. I'm not saying I'd lay money on this, lol! But I also don't think it's implausible.

Do as we have seen spirits hold no real interest in human affairs. Like Aang when he first was looking for Koh that monkey showed he held little to no interest with dealing with humans. Koh seems to show no real interest in it as well the library keeper was another one to showed he cared little for human affairs Koh never seemed to care either he oddly enough helps when asked but will take the opportunity to take your face at the same time.I dont see him caring enough about human affairs to directly influence potential chaos in a global scale as Amon is gaining power as he goes along.
I wont deny the possibility he is involved somehow but Also remember the sea-lion turtle it showed Aang how to bend the energies. Why wouldn't the turtle teach Amon he isn't evil just an extremist.

I agree about Amon, from what we've seen.
I think the lion-turtle is plausible too, though I prefer the notion of spirit interference for story construction reasons. I like the idea of the spirits getting involved largely because we haven't seen very much of them. They really only react when they've somehow been insulted or injured (Hei Bai, the Ocean Spirit), but we don't know yet if humans ignoring them completely might be grounds for this kind of offense. It's common to many mythologies, both Eastern and Western, that the spirits or fairies or whatever they happen to be are mostly hands-off, but need to be appeased in some way, or expect some sort of 'payment'. So that could be neat.
I also feel like it would be a little weird if two people ran across the last lion-turtle within a couple generations of each other, after it seems like they haven't been seen much in a while. And since Korra's whole deal is that she's lacking in the spiritual stuff, I think it would be exciting for a spirit antagonist to be unveiled for Book 2. I especially like the idea of Koh being involved, especially with Amon, because he is extraordinarily creepy and not particularly moral, yet we don't really get the feeling that he's evil, just that he operates by his own guidelines. This grey sort of situation seems very similar to the whole Equalist conflict to me, and so I think would make a good "step up" for the conflict once the Equalist arc is somewhat contained. The lion turtle implies that energybending used to be the thing, before this new-fangled element bending showed up, and Roku tells Aang that Koh is one of the oldest spirits. Well and so, I don't see it as impossible that he might know a thing or two about it too.
Thanks for bringing all this up The only person I know who's also watching Korra isn't really interested in theorizing, so I don't really get to talk about this kind of stuff much

Awww now I blush I enjoy talking with people who watch and at least try to make theories that are workable with in the series. I do believe we will see spirit involvement if Amon isn't just using some REALLY advance Chi-blocking I find this might be the case and he is only using 'the spirits believe in my cause' to gain support for his movement. Also I'm really hoping we see Zuko in one of those flashbacks already xD!!!

Well both zuko and Aang worked on republic city I mean Zuko has always been hands on so i am holding out hope. Old Zuko I am idk why really but half expecting Zuko turned out very Iroh like in his old age. Like maybe he finally understood his uncles obsession with tea and pai sho xD

yeah, but just because he helped found it didn't mean he had time to be there. It's different for him to be involved, because he's the sovereign of another state--of the Fire Nation, no less, which had conquered the area previously. It's becoming rather clear from the direction The Promise is going that the United Republic was definitely not meant to resemble an FN/EK colony. Therefore, if anything, I think Zuko and his heirs would need to be even more hands-off than the other nation with the Republic, just because people are likely to be more touchy about their involvement.
but yeah, I would adore for Zuko to have grown up into an slightly tetchier Iroh-like figure ^^
