Indeed, I hope it was Koh, my favourite character.

Woo! I know right?! I want spirit action~! When Amon said that his face was taken, my first thought was Koh. Like, maybe Koh gave him the ability to take bending away or something and took his burnt face as payment.
I want Yue to speak with Korra, or Heibei or or a new spirit! \o/

That is a good idea but how would Koh know how to energy bend? Let alone teach Amon, and would Amon be able to make a facial expression even if his face was very burned?

*shrugs* as to the first part, the jury's still out for me as to whether it's the same kind of energy bending the lion turtle taught Aang. Also, whether it is or not, who's to say he wouldn't know the theory of it at least? Roku does say he's one of the oldest spirits. For all we know, it may have been common knowledge 6000 years ago or whatever.
As to the second, I'm not precisely sure what you're asking...I'm open to either the idea that Koh took Amon's face, or that he can't take/doesn't want to take it because it's so damaged. My theory at this point is more along the lines of "Koh and Amon are somehow linked", which isn't very specific lol. I'm pretty flexible on the details until we see some kind of evidence leading in that direction.

Oh, is this the theory of how Amon said that 'the spirits' taught him how to take away a person's bending? And not all of the spirits liked the Avatar... and since Amon's face was so severely burnt he wouldn't be able to make any facial expressions, and therefore would be safe around Koh?

More or less, yes. I'm pretty flexible on it, but I would love if Koh is somehow involved with Amon.

well the direction I'd go with it is less necessarily that Amon took his face, and more that perhaps he was telling at least partial truth about losing most of his face to a firebender, and that makes him less vulnerable to Koh or something.

If Koh DOESNT make an appearence....things will get ugly. MUST HAVE KOH!!! (He's what made the Spirit World interesting for me)

or at least some modicum of spiritworldiness, right? I can't imagine how the whole thing would be about Korra not paying enough attention to the spiritual side of being the Avatar, and Amon having this power supposedly because the spirits are unhappy, and some spirit or other not having some major role later down the road. I'm feeling like Amon's Equalist arc will be wrapped up in this season, and the second one will be about the spirits. Hopefully with Koh as the main antagonist.
