Usually Lerato's crystal-heart is red, but whenever he uses too much magic it turns blue. If he keeps casting magic, his body starts hurting and cracks appear.In order to prevent him from casting any more and damaging it, his brain has a defense mechanism that makes his whole body crystallize, telling Lerato to stop pushing himself and take a break.

Kayun can prevent the pain and cracks that eventually lead to Lerato's crystallization by constantly being in physical contact with him and transferring his body-heat to Lerato's freezing body *usually they holds hands for that*
Yet if Kayun's not around, Lerato is pretty much doomed.

This picture is actually presenting something that happens around the end of the story. Lerato eats his own Anima and remembers that he's actually a Pure (the deities of the story). Remembering that, he starts having problems controlling his singing and magic.

Because he's unable to control his powers anymore, he unintentionally kills Kayun with his Canaria (his singing), and once he realizes what he has done, Lerato goes berserk from sadness and self-hatred. He casts a kilometers-wide area spell called "Catharsis", and keeps casting it again and again with the intention of damaging his own body. At the same time he's trying to prevent his body from crystallizing, because if it does, he won't be able to inflict any more damage to it.

Casting that heavy spell, pushing his body to its limits and feeling the pain that comes from it is Lerato's way to purge/torture himself for killing his friend. *basically, he'd kill himself if he could, but since he's a god, he can't.*

"Catharsis" in Greek means "Purification" or "Purgation".

I wanted to draw clothes as well as add details like his Canaria *the songs escaping him*, but in the end I took them out and drew him naked because I wanted the eye to focus on his heart. ;u;
Also, this was a 1 hour speed-paint because I was feeling really really frustrated, so I drew this to let it all out, and then I felt really refreshed

Decided to upload this separately because it has 14 frames and it'd be tiring to built it in a log with 3-4 other pictures ;3; So I'm uploading it as a single picture~
I totally didn't know what I was doing when making the frames for the animation haha~ I just used a lot of displacement, reversed colors, motion blur and channels, but I'm really happy with how it came out.
