Description
Sonic, the Knight of the Wind. Never giving in, never compromising--standing by his ideals, not minding if it even meant all would look at him as the "bad guy". In the end, declared by the sacred sword that he was the true king of Camelot for his determination, his heart to help others, and ultimately saving the kingdom, in a way. Even if this would mean the world of the Kingdom of Camelot would eventually end, as the story is written, in spite of that, if you think about it, he saved the entire kingdom and countless lives that would have been sacrificed to the underworld by Merlina as the Dark Queen just so it wouldn't have to end. But of course people might initially think he was a villain instead of the hero, especially considering he planned to slay the so-thought original king to save everyone.
Something else I finished back in November. It's an idea I had earlier last year for something, so I kinda wanted it to have a Sonic and the Black Knight theme to it a bit. It's more specifically kind of inspired by the acoustic version of Sonic's Adventure theme, "It Doesn't Matter" from the game's soundtrack (the fanart menu in the game): www.youtube.com/watch?v=98XIct… This version is specifically based on the version of his theme from Sonic Adventure 2. I've always been rather fond of this acoustic version and its violin and guitar duo.
Black Knight surprisingly was never really one of my favorite Sonic games, in spite of the whole castle and medieval setting. Out of the two storybook games, I seem to lean more toward Secret Rings for its story and character interaction...even though Black Knight has the superior soundtrack by far (can't go wrong with guitarist Jun Senoue composing the soundtrack!). In recent times, though, revisiting stuff about the game, I can see why people really enjoy this game's presentation of story and characters.
I think this is my first time doing Sonic and the Black Knight-inspired art. I only did so kinda loosely because I wanted the concept partially there for something of mine. The calm, peaceful feeling the song gives off sort of gives a more gentle and thoughtful aspect to Sonic's character, in spite of how his themesongs generally present as him being a bit of a wild teenager...with the rock musical style and all. XD So I wanted this to match the more gentle mood in this and just have Sonic resting with Caliburn near him. I thought the sword being placed in the ground nearby would have a nice look to it. I always loved how Sonic X showed him kicking back like this and having such a laid-back manner. I've always enjoyed this being shown about his character. And Sonic with a sword? We know characters with swords look cool, so that's a plus.
