Description I mean, come on. I'm not alone in this, right?? I know there are tons of E/C fans, and in the musical, there are distinct moments when Raoul and Meg could, potentially be having a romantic moment. So there.

WHO'S WITH ME!??

...that means comment.

^_^ E/C... cute!

Raoul and Meg... cute too! Not a traditional pairing (or canon) but I could see it MAYBE working? except that I think one of the reasons R/C works so well is that they share a past relationship from their childhood. Raoul liking Meg would seem even more scandalous than him liking a beautiful soprano who WAS a chorus girl.

But I know exactly what reference photo you used to draw this!!!!! XD

Thanks! Yes, legistically Raoul would be shamed a bit more if he ended up with Meg rather than Christine, but if it was TRUE LOVE , then Raoul would still say, "F*&% the status quo!" and marry her anyways.

I'm glad you recognize my references!

Um... it's spelled "Raoul".

I see what you mean, I guess. But I'm sort of bi-pairing when it comes to Raoul vs Erik. Like, I think both can be a good match for Christine. So I think Raoul getting left out would be sad. I tend to be alone in that...

I really like the way you portray the characters in this picture, anyhow.

HA! Thanks, I'm a terrible speller.

I was very pro Raoul/Christine before I saw the musical, but I think that's mostly Gerard Butler's fault. He gave me the creeps to the extreme in the movie! But now, I can see both with her. Although, after seeing Love Never Dies (don't judge, I went to see how bad it could be, and it was. I pity the actor's though, they're all very talented, they're just stuck with a really awful plot and some okay music), I lean towards Erik.

Thank you!

DarkAngel1881 In reply to sahadlich90 [2010-11-22 12:19:11 +0000 UTC]

I understand that completely. I am in fact going to see Love Never Dies too, because it's coming to Australia next year apparently, though I won't get to see the original cast, I hear, which I am not too happy about. I think Ramin Karimloo has a divine voice.

I dunno, I think they both offer something that the other can't. I've written fanfic for both pairings, so...

I like some of the music in Love Never Dies. It's just that most isn't up to the same caliber as the original.

I like Gerard Butler, though the Phantom wasn't his best role - then again I wouldn't know about Phantom without the 2004 movie.

Holy crap, I ranted and it was unrelated... D:

You're welcome!

Ya! Good for you! It's worth seeing from a critical sort of stand point, and yes, Ramin Karimloo has an AMAZING voice. I've sort of fallen in love with it.

Very true, on all three points. I do really like some of the music from LND, but there are some songs that literally hurt my ears, I mean, Heaven By The Sea (AHHH! ), other than the obvious (and I'm starting to think only) reason why ALW would write a sequel, why would he let songs like that pass into the final production?? I'm just dissapointed I suppose. I would not know about Phantom as well were it not for the '04 film, which I guess means we can thank them for it. But I'm still slightly unhappy with the casting, not to say that it didn't work, cause it did. But when I found out that both Gerard and Patick were in their 30's and Emmy was only 16! That added that extra little push of creep factor (which, looking back, I only applied to Gerard, oops...) that made me uncomfortable with the film.

Wow. I think I keep writing more and more, it's slightly embarrasing, but it's been a while since I've been able to talk to someone about Phantom and it's associated films and musicals. So thank you for this!

DarkAngel1881 In reply to sahadlich90 [2010-11-22 12:39:13 +0000 UTC]

You're quite welcome.

Oh yes, I remember after the first time I watched the movie (with my grandmother in the room, might I add?) I watched the behind-the-scenes video and it was just casually thrown in, like "Gerry is 34, and Emmy was sixteen for her screen test..." and I was kind of like "That's cool," (didn't register that that was a little squicky...) and my grandmother was just like

Later I realised.

OMG 2004 MOVIE RAOUL. I hated that guy so much! I thought he was cute for about three minutes but then his fucking hair got so annoying!
Don't get me wrong, I think his voice is lovely, and without that wig he's a very cute-looking guy, but OHMYGODTHATFUCKINGHAIRWHATWERETHEYEVENTHINKING?!

Pardon my French.

I want to stab Heaven By The Sea in its metaphorical eyeball. I hate that song. But I do rather enjoy Till I Hear You Sing and Why Does She Love Me? and I think they're both great songs. Probably the best in the show.

Oh and I enjoy Devil Take The Hindmost. The tension between Raoul and Phantom (I cannot bring myself to call that guy Erik) is really obvious even in the soundtrack, I can't wait to see that part.

/rant.

HaHAHAHAHA!

Yeah... movie Raoul... he's a talented enough guy, but it was so stupid to put him in that girly wig. SO. STUPID.

French pardoned

I LOVE Till I Hear You Sing. I stole that song off the internet way back in like, July, it's hands down my favorite. I also really love Why Does She Love Me? as well, it took a day or two to warm up to it, but it's one of the few songs where Raoul get's to be somthing like who he was in the original. So that's good.

I really enjoy Devil Take The Hindmost, I thought that was a really well staged part of the show, you have that to look forward to. It was so wonderfully reminiscent of the final lair scene, and the animocity between the two of them is so evident. Love, love love.

I went through a phase of really loving Beneath A Moonless Sky for a while too, but when I went to see it on stage, Sierra and Ramin got a little too into it towards the end of the song ("again and then again") and it became a bit awkward for me.

I probably won't be able to talk again for a while, I'm going to see Harry Potter (finally, I feel like such a fool for not going yet) in IMAX (AKA my way of making it up to myself). But it was wonderful to meet you and talk Phantom with someone. This is why I love Deviant Art, meeting really cool people with similar intrests. Good times. Hope to talk to you again soon!

OHMYGOD MIDNIGHTPREMIERE HARRYPOTTER MAKESMEFORGETHOWTOUSETHESPACEBAR.

Amazing movie, HP7.

*cough cough*

Oh Lord, I can imagine. I watched the Phantom Review to it (in case you haven't seen it go onto youtube and type in "PhantomReviews" then follow the links, it's really quite funny), and he was saying they were a lot more... erm, passionate live.

I really do look forward to Devil Take The Hindmost, because I imagine it's probably one of the only vaguely ever so slightly in character bits.

I freaking hate what they did to poor Christine! She was my favourite character. That's pretty inexplicable. But I love Christine, I truly do not know why.
Love Never Dies!Christine is a whore and blarg. I don't like her. At all.

HARRY. POTTER.

Woah.

I cried, I have to say, Dobby's death made me cry. I don't remember crying while I read it, but that was a long time ago I spose.

AH! I can't believe you watch "PhantomReviewer"! He's awesome! It's because of him that I've seen so many versions of the story! I think he's hilarious, and dead on (for the most part).

Ya, Christine's kind of a flimsy character in LND. Sierra Boggess was great as her though! I loved her. Again, it's just the fact that the show can't hold it's own without this cast that makes it sad.

He's a really funny guy. Like, I was linked by someone on deviantart because she told me it was the only acceptable way to find out about/watch the Dario Argento version...

Oh good Lord, don't get me started on that one.

I cried from "Obliviate." until Voldylocks and the Elder Wand. Harry Potter has been the pillar of my childhood and I didn't even realise until I was sitting there in the cinema surrounded by Potterheads.

Christine... eurgh. You'd think after ten years she'd show some form of personal growth, but no. She's even more vacuous than the original.

I couldn't find the Dario Argento version, but the clips I found...

As soon as I saw the opening title sequence, I realized how glad I was that this was only part 1, I immediatley thought about how difficult it would be to have to watch all of book 7 in one sitting. I think I might die from sadness. I still think that I might not survive the second part. I grew up with Harry, the books came out at the same time when I was the age he was, my friends who are the same age as myself all feel a special connection to the series. I've always been right there with Harry Potter. I don't know what I'll be like when the series is done.

Haha! Poor Christine.

DarkAngel1881 In reply to sahadlich90 [2010-11-22 22:27:30 +0000 UTC]

Dario Argento is a horrifyingly sick minded man.

Part 2 will mean the destruction of us all. It's the end of a generation. I do not envy the children after us that won't grow up knowing about Harry Potter. That's not a childhood I'd want.

It made me think of the first movie. The first was really cuuuuuuute and the acting was so awful... XD What did you think of it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sahadlich90 In reply to DarkAngel1881 [2010-11-22 22:49:20 +0000 UTC]

I'm determined to have my children be well versed in Harry Potter. Indeed. By force if necessary.

The first or the new one?? Oh well, I'll just talk about both!

I remember thinking, "why does the girl playing Hermione need to take such big breaths before each line!?" All my friends teased her about it. Poor dear, of course she's at the top of her game in the new one. Simply amazing. I admit I had a huge crush on Daniel in the first one, but I tried not to be part of he majority and said I thought Tom Felton was cuter, which he is a very handsome guy, but I've sucessfully gotten over both crushes now, and moved on to others. Oh hormones! I've always thought Rupert was awesome, even from the start, especially in Chamber of Secrets when his voice was all jumpy SO CUTE! Even in the new one, he's still a source of levity in a quickly darkening world, but he can be dramatic too (damn horcrux- that scene made me so sad ).

One of the biggest things I miss from the earlier films is Richard Harris (the orginal Dumbledore). I've owned a copy of the movie musical Camelot since I was a girl, and he's Arthur, so I've always known him, and loved him. When he died, I didn't know what to do, I couldn't think who they would find to take over for him. Michael Gambon was a good choice, and was kind enough to not try to immitate the original Dumbledore. But the transition was so abrupt that I was still unsettled. The rest of the teachers are gold, along with all the adult cast. Everyone has been amazingly spot on choices.

Oooo.... 'nother rant, sorry bout that!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkAngel1881 In reply to sahadlich90 [2010-11-22 23:19:10 +0000 UTC]

The original Dumbledore. He was cute, I guess, but I am a bigger fan of Michael Gambon. And you're right, the fact that he played Dumbledore in a completely different way was great. And I just think the way he did it was excellent. He was a very good wise old wizard. XD

I hate when people say Ron is useless or just in the way or annoying. Ron is awesome! All of the Weasleys are. I love Fred and George, and for some very bizarre reason in the first few minutes, I thought George was Fred and I was like "But he doesn't die now!" And then I was like "... Oh. Right."

I think Hermione was very cute in the first movie, and I've always related to her, what with her being the nerdy girl with frizzy hair. I understand that ><

I'm going to cry when Michael Crawford dies. I know that's kind of really unrelated to this, but the Richard Harris thing made me think of it. Michael Crawford is my favourite actor ever. He's adorable.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sahadlich90 In reply to DarkAngel1881 [2010-11-22 23:30:32 +0000 UTC]

I know! The injustice the Weasley family recieves is ungodly! They are all so great! I've always had trouble telling the twins apart, I know, "real original", but it's true. I let myself forget that one of them dies until the end of the movie, when Dobby died, then I thought, "Oh God, we're not even done yet !" I reluctantly listed all the dead (as of the end of the series) in my head and felt very depressed. But I reminded myself that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are at Bill and Fleur's now, and they'll be safe... until July. Good grief.

I'll be sad to see Michael Crawford go, but he and I have an interesting relationship. He originated the ALW Phantom, and he gets HUGE props for that, but his voice has always creeped me out. I did enjoy him in Hello Dolly! and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. But then comedy is his strong suit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkAngel1881 In reply to sahadlich90 [2010-11-22 23:50:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, undoubtedly. I think he's a great Phantom and I think he's a versatile actor, but his comedy is just great. He has excellent timing and I loved him as Frank Spencer long before I ever knew of Phantom as anything more than a creepy guy in a mask going "DUUUUUUUHN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUUNH!" I've always thought that he is simply adorable, he's undoubtedly my favourite guy ever.
He's my favourite rendition of Erik too.

(Holy crap. Rant.)

I love Bill. Like, seriously, he's awesome. And Molly and Arthur and Ron and... I don't actually like Ginny that much. She's my least favourite Weasley and I just... I can't enjoy her. She's just sort of there.

ZOMG. How funny was the bit where Ginny and Harry were kissing and then George was there! That was hilarious! I loved that part so much. XD

I want to see part 2 but at the same time, I don't want Harry Potter to be over. The thought is severely depressing.

I think we've ranted enough today to not care so much about it anymore .

Bill was always the "cool" Weasley, and he seems to have gotten the shaft in the movie series, which is too bad, but at least we all know how cool he is! Molly and Arthur are such a well written couple, I've always loved them! Ginny is... necessary. JK Rowling couldn't have Harry NOT end up with someone. That would have just been creul.

I loved that scene! And when he put the toothbrush in his ear!? God! I laughed so hard! And that look he gave Harry! HA!

That's true.

I laughed a lot. When I was reading the book during that part I was like "OMG GEROGEY YOU LOST AN EAR OMG OMG OMG!" but then in the movie I lol'd.

Oh, and the bit where Hermione puffs up Harry's face! I thought that was meant to be all scary and stuff, because it was a dramatic moment, but everyone was laughing.

Maybe I just don't understand.

Fleur is lovely, I'm just saying.

Yeah, I thought Harry's disfigurment would have been more, dramatic, but I guess they wanted him to retain some of himself still? Why that would be is beyond me...

I didn't hear Fleur's french accent very clearly in the two scenes she was in. Which made me sad, I always loved reading her accent in the book! I thought it was so cute!

Yes, I thought her accent was greatly muffled compared to the fourth movie, even. She sounded pretty British. It was adorable though, you're right.

It's not fair at all! But in VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education - basically, years eleven and twelve), we have to cover a total of 20 units. In year eleven we do 10 units and we have to do preparation for them. I dunno, it sucks is all.
