....returned to this addictive concept....
I've been watching (but not bingeing) on star-trek-the-next-generation
and it resonates!
...it would be worthwhile to introduce more figures here,
to experiment...

....quite understandable -
Not only is "eclipse" somewhat ugly,
but the UI is not especially good,
and is certainly not intuitive when it
should be...
I am almost always interested in
improving earlier things
- IF possible -
...yep, love the perspective,
and somewhat-classical references
here 
columns could appropriate....lots
of references for those....

and this concept works just fine,
despite any shortcomings re the columns...
Please say something re the software used...

I used Photoshop and some free grunge brushes that create that texture and some photobashing as well(for other textures in the foreground)
Yes i guess that for a concept work it could be okay,i'm sure i'd do it better now
