This page was a ton of fun, I changed the page a little from the actual script. Luckily Robert dug the changes. Basically he was asking me to draw a monster punching Invincible really quickly and hurting him pretty bad, then Invincible punches him out. So since I designed a monster with no fists. I thought it'd be cool to have him fight Invincible with those weird bone thingies, and then Mark impales him with the same bone thingies. It was tuff to fit it all on one page, since that's all the room he wanted me to do it in. So yeah, hope ya dig it.Related content

I dig it! When I re-read it (I usually read comics once to know the story, then again to scrutinise the artwork, art students, what can you do?) I thought this page was really great. I loved that the thing was fighting with what appeared to be mouth-parts, very cool.

Dude, I gotta say, your doing an outstanding job on this book. If we're being honest, I was upset when I heard that they were going to change artist. But you've proven yourself, which had to be tough. I can't even think of Invincible without you as the artist!

Nice, I liked this page when I bought, there was a nice twist at the end which I thought was cool, I hope to see the next issuse coming out a little quicker this time though!

I totally dig it. Way better than the 'normal' monster punches hero image. This is exactly what I love on this book: Stuff you can't read and see elsewhere... like a monster which looks like THIS!

Nice! I thought this bit was pretty unique, from the way he's being gripped by the interior jaws and hammered by the fangs, to the point where Mark puts the fangs back through its own skull. Definitely a high point in the action, and it's cool to hear that it was one of those last-minute inspiration flashes... those are always nice and rewarding when they work as well as this one did.

Yow! That's cold-blooded!! I really like the emotion in Mark's face. I was afraid that Eve might've died in the previous page based on his expression and the brutality of his attacks.
That is probably one of my favorite things about your art on Invincible. You're excellent at coming up with incredibly savage attacks for super-strong characters to use. It's very ugly and downright dirty, but that's what makes it ring true and what makes it unique among comics.

Its alway interesting to hear the about some of the communication between writer and artist/inkers. Its cool to have Kirkman, or any writer who is willing to be flexable.

Awesome coolness. In the fifth panel, it looks like the monster was actually trying to take off Invincible's head. Like a pair of pliers on a stubborn nail. *Pop!* Either way, it probably hurt like hell.

ya know..i dont know if you have, bu ti would like to see you post some pages where you have the rough pencils with showing some perspective on building and such. just to see what that looks like. like i said..i dont know if you have, but maybe thats soemthing to consider for next time

I think I have posted my pencils with perspective lines many times. Check my gallery. Especially that large poster I did, that has tons of perspective lines all over it.

We try to do it once a week. And it's about 3-4 hours.

Awesome, thanks for the info!! Me and some friends are wanting to start up something similar in our hometown and even once a week could be pushing it!! Most of the guys have families and whatnot. Hopefully we can follow your example to some degree!! Thanks for the inspiration!

I feel ya!! But sometimes the wives seem to get the last word on things!! LOL!!! We really want to use it not ony as a sketch opportunity but also as a way to bring in ideas, projects and works in progress to get feedback from our peers. It's really easy to get tunnel vision on personal projects when you're working alone in your office till the wee hours of the morning!!
