Description
This is a pencil drawing of Orlando Bloom. It is my second trial with charcoal pencils, which I used for the darkest parts of the drawing. (I prefer it to graphite because charcoal doesn't have the sheen that graphite does). For the lightest parts of the drawing, including his skin and his shirt I used graphite pencils (Staedler, HB - 2B). Unfortunately my scanner isn't big enough, so this is a photograph taken of the finished picture. Actual size is 11x14, done on extra smooth Bristol board.Related content

How you were able to make his skin that smooth is utterly fantastic.

I used 2H and HB pencils, and would shade a very very light layer all over, then blend it with a tissue. I gradually built up tones by repeating this.
