Description
This is a pencil drawing of Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. It was done on 8x10 paper, but the actual drawing is smaller. Mostly, I used HB and B pencils for the lighter areas, and for all the darkest areas, I used an 8B pencil. This drawing isn't as blended and smooth as I usually like, but I felt it suited the picture, so I left it.Related content

Thank you so much! I definitely recommend an 8B, as it allows you to get the really dark values without the shine of normal graphite. It's like charcoal, but less messy.

Aaaah okay yes, thanks for the tip! I shall go to the stores after my finals are over and get some better pencils to work with
And one other question, how do you create the white areas? Especially in the other pictures with hair, you know, the very thin white lines that really make the hair realistic? Is it with a gel pen I hear so much about?

Actually, I have never used a gel pen, although I would like to try it! I just use a kneaded eraser and erase over the background. I press a thin edge onto the eraser, then lightly swipe down the page where the hair should be.
