Love this. Love the halftones, her expression, everything. I wish this was a t-shirt I could buy.

This is a much better version than that one. I have to agree with one of the comments on the page showing the other costume saying "Notice that when Superman and Batman have been tinkered with no one touched the basic costume design. Thereβs a very good reason for that, and as usual DC doesnβt seem to think that the third part of their βtrinityβ deserves the same respect." This is a much better version of tinkering. The original idea for the costume is there but the tinkering is minor. Very nicely done.

people have been bitching and moaning about wonderwoman showing off to much ass and tits and now that there is a redesign they bitch and moan some more?
people are never happy.
scratch that. people ON THE INTERNET are never happy.
but i love it when you do superhero redesigns, especially with your retro yet unique style. i hope to see more in the future!

the link WW looks like a spider man rip off. I really like this WW; as always, your drawings are bad-ass.

Yep, this is awsome- a great blend and better update. The jacket JMS came up with is a dumb idea- too 1990s.

I think this is a lot more true to Wonder Woman's iconic costume than the DC redesign. I especially like the stars on the pants. Ace stuff!

hate the new version, love your take on it.
honestly, while i totally get all the complaints about skimpy costumes not being practical, adding flimsy spandex pants and a jacket like they did for the new redesign doesn't make it any less impractical.
i actually love wonderwoman's original costume, but that may well be due in large part to kate beaton's adorkable drawings of her.

Wonder Woman is tough enough that she could fight naked, but that's beside the point.

I like this as a compromise between the two looks.
I thought the new design was kind of pedestrian and a bit retro, but not awful. I was more annoyed by her physique in the picture I saw. Yeah, she's supposed to be statuesque, but come on! She's an Amazon warrior princess for crying out loud. Even if she has the bangin' curves, she should still have the shoulders and muscles to look like she could kick you ass up around your ears.

As most everyone else has said, I like your design a lot more. They hardly kept any of the traditional elements of the original costume. I do approve of putting on some pants, though.

That's way better than the 'official' redesign. The only thing I'd change is to make the inside of her pants either jet black or white (probably black, let's face it, white super-pants would see a LOT of stains) to really make the blue stripes with stars stand out more and give it kind of that blocked out look, which I think makes it look...mmm, more like it could become an iconic look itself. But generally, I really like this look, I think you capture her spirit far better. With the other one, even her face doesn't look right to me.

I think maybe the new costume forgot that the point was that she was all american flaggy.

I've never been Wonder Woman's biggest fan, but I do like her new look more - for the same reason you listed. However, I think you should be put in charge of drawing Wonder Woman now. She looks positively boss.

I'm one of those people that don't like the new design much. I agree, I love the idea of female superheroes covering up thier legs more (getting scratched up and hurt seems easier in thier bathing suits) but the new look lacks her.... iconic look. I do like her new gauntlets though. I like this much better. She's wearing proper boots! I don't know what was going on with her spandex/shoes in the redesign. It would be nice if they could incorporate the white on blue stars somewhere like in this piece. I dunno, i think with a few tweaks the new costume could be super cool.

roseredautumn [2010-07-01 00:16:20 +0000 UTC]
I like her new design, honestly. she looks a little biker chick, and I think it gives her a little bit of credibility as a hero. crimefighting in hotpants? ow my knees! or anything else, for that matter.
regardless, I like your design and the throwbacks it has.

The boots are both kick-ass and sexy.

I like your design much more than the official new look. The new look doesn't give much credit to the old icon. And even if they are trying to have her more covered up, I don't give the new outfit credit for being...not fight practical. Your look seems to have much more of a "can fight" with "original style" and "not in a swimsuit".

ashmodai-cartoonist [2010-06-30 23:34:48 +0000 UTC]
Very nice. I've often wondered how women superheroes who wear those typical leg-and-thigh exposing tights keep from tearing their muscles and ligaments when fighting in not-so warm weather. :-~ I gotta say, leggings make more sense, and not just for avoiding sexist double standards.
