Seriously, you don't even need slash goggles, it is mind-bending.
You'll find a few. I think some us are starting to come out of the woodwork now. There's this problem, with slashing Classic Who in that the Classic people don't want you because you're slashing, and the slashing people don't want you because David Tennant is not involved. So you're sort of sitting around by yourself going, "But... kilt-y clinging!"

I wish the lines between Classic Who and New Who fans blended more.
It's so aggravating to talk to someone who's like "I'm a Doctor Who fan durr hurr hurr" and not be able to get a word in edgewise about anything other than Our Lord and Master Ten.
Not that I dislike Ten, he's just not my favorite.
And as cool as all the various New Who companions are, nothing will ever come close to the amazing that is Jamie.
And, for that matter, quite a few of the older companions.
Like... like Sarah Jane. And The Brig. And Turlough!
And Adric.

I used to count Ten among my faves - he's even in a meme I did that way - but the more I saw of him, and the more classics I saw, the less I liked.
His fangirls have made it hard to want to go anywhere near that stuff now. I'm mostly a Classic kinda lady.
I wish we could have more male companions, really. And more historical and alien ones, those are my favorites.

And I hear you on the companion thing. I'm tired of all these 21st Century, Earthling, Human, Female companions.
Did you know that, other than Jack, there hasn't been a real male companion since Turlough?
Nor has there been a single non Earthling companion since everyone's favorite ginger, either.

Oh, I know there hasn't been one since Turlough, trust me. I was rather dismayed. I think the problem is that earlier in the show's history, before the Doctor became a super attractive young guy, they needed to get young girls to watch the show. I've seen Frazer Hines say that that's why he was there - to be the pretty boy in the kilt. Some of the later girls were more obviously meant to be looked at than to be characters. And then when the Doctor was pretty himself in this new run of stuff, we didn't need a pretty boy around too. I almost doubt that they'll ever have another one that isn't the 'main' companion's boyfriend/brother/incidental acquaintance, because they won't need him for ratings.
And this kills me, but I am not their marketing lady, alas, alas.
And alien too! Not that anyone would be likely to know that Turlough was a non-Earthling if they just popped in a random episode. I really would have liked to see more stuff indicating that he (and Nyssa, and Adric) was alien to us the viewers, and to Tegan, the only human on a TARDIS full of people at one point. Their personal cultural clashes could have added some real dimension to things. I don't know why the people making this show think that the only person we will identify with is a hot girl from the current-to-the-airing-of-the-show time. We're sci-fi fans, we're used to identifying with green people and outcasts!

I really really really really really really a thousand times really hope the next Doctor is older again.
Like, my perfect Twelve would be Anthony Stewart Head. He'd be absolutely brilliant, and then maybe we could get some male companions, and kill the romance for a while.
And some historical companions! Or future ones, for that matter. Or ones from other planets. Or all three!
I mean, Leela was alien AND primitive. Nyssa, Adric, and Turlough weren't from around these parts, and Jamie was from the 1700's. I miss that kind of stuff.
I love Doctor Who dearly with all of my heart, but I'm getting tired of the new stuff. I like Eleven all right, and Amy's pretty cool, but my heart's just not in it like it used to be.
I also think the Doctor should get a cat. Future cats in British sci fi happen quite a bit, so I don't see why that couldn't happen in Who. For that matter, why not take that into the future a bit and get someone like Brannigan to be a companion? That would be wicked cool.
