Description this is just a study from a vintage gypsy photo that i used to experiment with pencil, pastel, oils and iridescent paint. I think it's more reflective and more textured in real life but it's a flattened by the scanner.
it's in a 5" x 8" sketchbook

I think this is wonderful!
I have looked to create glowing effects in my oil paintings recently... would you say that this winsor and newton iridescent white would give me a better effect than I could achieve with a technique using zinc, titanium, or flake white? Even with a glaze?

ultimately the glow comes from your use of dark/light values. The iridescent white adds a bit of a nice, fancy metallic quality to the paint but is transparent- maybe mix them. The best answer is to try them all and compare

Ah! Yes, I understand. In order to make the glow seem intense, the figure has to be darker by comparison like in your painting!
I will try them as you suggest! Thanks!

maybe this is a stupid question to ask accordign to the immense beauty of your portrat, but really do need to know : do these neon paints loose their glow? i always wanted to use them but u was afraid how they would turn out after a year or to

it's not a stupid question- but they aren't neon paints. It's just pastel and iridescent white and a touch of yellow- all of which I would assume should last longer than a year, well I hope so. We'll find out
