I saw some Marvel vs Star Wars ideas by - and after kicking myself for not thinking of the concept first - I decided to draw two of my favourite characters going head to head.I picked The Punisher and Jango Fett because there are a lot of similarities between them. Neither character has super powers - instead they both rely on weapons and training. Also, they both owe a lot to characters played by Clint Eastwood: the concept for Jango is borne from Boba Fett - who draws from Spaghetti Western characters like Clint's 'Man With No Name' - while The Punisher owes a lot to the 'Dirty Harry' character.
I emphasised the similarities between the characters in my drawing by setting them in almost symmetrical poses. I've drawn The Punisher as a typical 'comic-book' character (inspired by Mike Zeck's work) - with an exaggerated physique - while Jango has more realistic proportions. I chose Cloud City as the battleground mainly just so that I could use a lot of warm orange highlights.
I'm not taking any bets on who'd win this one!
This was first drawn in pencil, then pen - before being scanned and coloured in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. The resolution here is much much reduced from the original.

Well before I put my money on either, let's establish the ground rules (like REAL fan boys) ... Firstly, anyone know off the top of their heads exactly how resilient Mandolarian armor is? I think this image is supposed to represent the vibe of the crossover. Like a cover image for the comic ,novel or video game that encapsulates the spirit of the face off,right? In the actual fight between these two,SO much will be dependent on environment and circumstances as to who would get which advantage. Unfortunately for Frank, the environment for this particular piece seems to be Curascant,Alderaan or maybe Mustafar, so that gives Fett a home field (or at least home universe) advantage. If I were lucky enough ,maybe by winning a crazy contest, to supply the plot for this astonishingly cool concept (as is Vader/Aliens ,but this Jango/Punisher thing can easily happen cuz Uncle Walt owns both these guys now ) I would make it two seperate issues one each a depiction of hard faught "ust by an inch" in favor of both in respect to environmental surroundings. Basically The Punisher vs Jango Fett one shot featuring a Frank win in New York and Jango Fett versus The Punisher one shot with Jango walking tall on Mandolar. If it was a fantasy gig, then of course it would be two concurrent issues featuring a team up in the face of mutual threat from Predators and Aliens. I am a commercial genius.

I haven't seen that movie for a long time - but I remember it was quite a good idea - and like you say the 'gun-kata' was a very interesting idea. Maybe Jango and the Punisher have had the same training!

I've looked at this one a couple of times. It is well done. This time I noticed the cloudcar in the background. Very nice work. I haven't been able to get the folds of cloth like you have on Jango's shirt and pants in my art. But it has been a while since I have done any serious sketching.

Jango would win most likely. Even though the Punisher has taken on super beings, Jango is armored, and Jango's Wester can burn through metal, so that would fuck the Punisher's skull up.
