As many of you might already know from what I have posted in the past and when I first came here to DeviantArt that I am a HUGE, HARDCORE supporter of the possible romantic pairing between Sesshomaru and Rin (when she's older). One of the very first motivational screenshots that I posted was of how they have such a beautiful relationship with each other and it has gotten lots of views and comments, some good and some bad, but over time it has led to quite a few online trolls hounding me and shoving my opinions back in my face over it and I have gotten into quite a few heated arguments as one of the main topics that is still argued to this day and one that I solemly stand behind is that the relationship between Rin and Sesshomaru is NOT that of a father/daughter one as he has never once in the series (manga or anime) shown her any type of fatherly love that is a topic to touch upon for another time. I will admit that it has made me feel discouraged a few times because of it but I always had other fellow deviants here that had my back and supported me on it which gave me inspiration and encouragement again.

So over the past 11 years, I have continued to be a very supporter of a romantic relationship between Sesshomaru and Rin (when she gets older) and have read quite a lot of fanfiction stories about them and even wrote a few myself. After Takahashi wrapped up the series she had Sesshomaru leave Rin in the village with Kaede (that fat wrinkled ass hag) to learn how to live among humans once again or whatever life she chooses when she came of age according to InuYasha. So the ending was to some a cliffhanger to what Rin would choose and also opened up doors for many fans of the show and of this pairing as to what happened next and I have read many (and I mean MANY) wonderful fanfiction stories of where Rin does choose to return to Sesshomaru's side once she comes of age and some of my personal favorites is that she has a bad falling out with Kaede and/or Kagome and the others and chooses to return to Sesshomaru's side as a result to which Rin and Sesshomaru would either start to travel together again or settle down at his castle and at which point both of them have feelings for each other but are too shy or (in Sesshomaru's case) prideful to admit it but usually something will happen where it will give both of them a "love epiphany" and confess their love for each other and will have their happy ending while other fanfictions like ones written by an old friend of mine RayvynSkye already has them together and portrays Sesshomaru as a bit of a protective lover/mate to Rin but does give logical reasons in her stories as to why he is like this and these stories are my favorite of the RinSessh pairings.

A few years back after the re-release of InuYasha came out it included a new drama-CD that was created by the original anime screenwriting team of InuYasha and also got approval from Rumiko Takahashi herself. No one ever anticipated that the drama CD would be one where Sesshomaru actually proposes marriage to Rin at the end which made so many fans of this pairing jump up and down with joy       . That left many fans speculating that Rin and Sesshomaru would indeed become a possible couple after she grew up a bit more and was ready to leave the village which many others have speculated that she secretly didn't really like being there and was even secretly bullied because of her relationship with Sesshomaru and the fancy kimonos she always gets from him. But to many this was an encouraging piece that further sparked their love for this possible romantic pairing between them as it did mine too which even inspired me to post this screenshot . Fans around the world knew that Rumiko Takahashi would never write a sequel that would give readers the satisfaction as to what path Rin has chosen as most of her animes like Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2 had endings left in cliffhangers as to whether or not the main couples would end up together making them fall into the trope, "Will they or won't they?" and that seems that Rin and Sesshomaru's relationship fell into that trope too. Until, 2 months ago InuYasha fans, old and new, got the shocking news of a lifetime that they never expected to hear. An anime sequel was coming out this fall that featured the adventures of not only InuYasha's daughter but also the twin daughters of Sesshomaru who are in fact half-demons.

Upon first seeing the poster that showed the girls, especially the twins I am not going to lie when I tell you that almost immediately seeing the dark-haired daughter of Sesshomaru I thought it was Rin at first glance and started secretly wishing that Rin was in fact the mother of his twins and it would be a dream come true after having to deal with the shipping wars that has been going on between the pairing between RinSessh and others many years back.

Most fans immediately started going onto social media and started blowing up the sites that were dedicated to this as they were not only excited to see a anime sequel to the series but to also try to figure out and make speculations as to who was the mother of Sesshomaru's daughters were I have been avoiding those areas and just like we are all doing at the moment practiced my online social distancing as well because I did not want to get caught in between the arguments that I am sure is still going on until this series comes out about whether or not Rin and Sesshomaru is canon. I have had been in so many of these in the past that now just thinking about them is so tiresome. It also made me even more distance from Tumblr and Twitter when the first official teaser trailer to the sequel came out 4 days ago: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbq1uk… and I am continuing to stay away from all of this as I really don't want to have anything to do with these arguments but that doesn't mean that I don't want to see at least one of the pairings that I support strong and hard to happen but I am also prepared for the fact that Rin and Sesshomaru might not in fact happen either as I have been met with sheer disappointment in the past when it came to shipping a certain pair in anime.

To those of you out there who are supporters of Ichigo and Rukia, you know exactly what I am talking about as I am sure that many of you also remember the atrocious ending to the once-popular manga series "Bleach" which was one of the most badly written manga endings in history that many fans (like myself) have come to hate. That and Tito Kubo but on a positive side it made the pairing of Orihime and Ichigo the most hated one in the manga series as many just like me could clearly see that Ichigo and Rukia had something more special between them then Ichigo did with his dimwitted, one word saying, obsessive stalker. Plus, as few have pointed out that Ichigo and Rukia were most likely to actually face the "big bad" together given to the hint that Kiskue Urahara dropped in the last couple chapters of the manga.

So it was disappointing to see a pairing (that made more sense) that I supported not happen and heartbreaking that it actually did take me a while to get over it. But I think that it also in some ways it did help me grow and learn from this because the only thing that happened after the last chapter came out and revealed the "canonical" pairing it only sparked and encouraged Ichigo and Rukia fans, even more, to continue to support this pairing even to this day as them even more popular then before.

So that is what I am preparing for if Rin and Sesshomaru don't happen in this upcoming sequel. Almost immediately I began to think to myself {Don't make assumptions, this doesn't mean that RinSessh is official.} even though I am eager and hopeful that it will happen I am not going to get myself all riled up for the possibility of it not happening as many Rukia and Ichigo fans didn't hear the end of it from IchigoXOrihime fans or RukiaXRenji fans either and were taunted and brought down as a result. So I am not going to be setting myself up for disappointment is time either. But even so, that still doesn't mean that I don't want to see Rin and Sesshomaru happen as I truly do but I am also just preparing for the possible worse I am even debating as to whether or not to even watch the sequel when it's released as a few others I know have also told me that their excitement has calmed down and are not as thrilled as they originally were. Because one of the other traits that has been shown to carry on through other works of Rumiko Takahashi is that some of main character's (mostly the boys) mothers are not revealed until close to the end of the series, ex: Ranma, Sesshomaru and Rinne. I have a gut feeling that if the writers follow the same traditions that Rumiko Takahashi has done in her past work they might leave the mystery of the twin's mother a secret until close to the very end which will make it more suspenseful for fans to tune in and watch.

I am going to say this though, as regardless as to what happens in this sequel, canon or not I am still going to continue to be a HUGE, HARDCORE supporter of the romantic pairing between Sesshomaru and (older) Rin even if they don't happen in the sequel as one friend even pointed out to me from the beginning that she doesn't view the anime as a canon because Rumiko Takahashi is not involved in it, she only designed the daughters and that was it, leaving the rest up to the screenwriters. Some have already come to the belief of this while I think that others will hold their final judgement to the series once it starts airing. Plus, I am sure that if Rin and Sesshomaru do happen many anti-fans are going to immediately start arguing that the anime is not canonical either.

I have been a fan/supporter of the romantic pairing between RinSessh for at least 11 years and will continue to be one til the end of my days, so regardless of what happens in the upcoming anime sequel it will NOT change how I feel towards this pairing as I still hold in my own opinion that this pairing makes more sense and is more beautiful than the pairing between InuKag and MiroSan.

The pairing between RinSessh has actually been one of the most popular pairings right from the beginning when they first met and Rin started travelling with him and from a comment, I read a while back even Rumiko Takahashi herself loves the pairing of RinSessh MORE then InuKag. I don't know if this is a true fact but the pairing of RinSessh is quite popular in the Asian cultures especially China and Japan as it was pointed out to me by another fan, who is also Asian that I met through DeviantArt and is also a supporter of RinSessh that the word "canon" is not used in the Asian culture even Japan and is only used by Western viewers. Here is one of the following that she has said to me:

"So yes the sequel isn't 'canon' and can, therefore, be taken in any manner regardless of the outcome. Furthermore, Japan doesn't use the term 'canon' when referring to this. They treat all subject matters equally due to their objective approach. Canon is a term invented and maintained in the west. So haters can scream 'canon' all they want but it is utterly hypocritical regardless of the outcome."

it holds true to the fact that Sessrin remains a very real possibility. She even acknowledged me to the fact that one of the animators for the original series of InuYasha, Sachi (who is also a HUGE supporter of RinSessh) drew an "official" picture of a grown-up Rin and Sesshomaru: www.reddit.com/r/inuyasha/comm… Plus, in another article that I read even the Japanese voice actor of InuYasha, Kappei Yamaguchi himself, even stated in a comment that there is no other human that Sesshomaru could ever love more then Rin, but once again, I don't know if this is true or not.

My friend told me not to get my hopes up on the pairing which I am not but I just don't want to get them up too high that they get shot down later if the writers decide to pull a "Kubo" and disappoint many fans. But regardless of what happens it won't make me change my opinion on the pairing that I have shipped for so long. In fact, if RinSessh doesn't happen in the sequel, just like with IchiRuki didn't happen in the (badly written) manga it's only going to make me love the pairing more and more due to the very strong bond that Rin and Sesshomaru have shown to have and share with each other in the manga and anime series that any true RinSessh fan can see too. So regardless of the outcome of the upcoming anime series, RinSessh will still remain a very popular pairing to many as well as the OTP.
