No, it's more mundane than that, she is just using them for support. When I was doing the pose (yes, sometimes I try the poses myself), I found it uncomfortable without a "third leg", and that is what the fingers do.
I admit I have some problem. When I ink I can do some things fine, like the face, but some others I have yet to nail, like the fingers (they looked better on the sketch).

I've done poses as well. I once saw a strange pose, and decided to see if it was possible before critiquing it.
Needless to say, it was impossible without invisible high-heels or something.
And that's fine. I was just curious about why they were like that. It doesn't really look like they're making contact with the ground at first glance.

I actually planed to added some "ambient occlusion" (thicker line where it makes contact), but I forgot about it
