I mean, you never really know what you have until you've lost it, right? Believe me, before all this I was very much a carnivore. But I made a concious decision that that wasn't how I wanted to live my life, for a multitude of reasons. It's been a little over a year and meat is still very, VERY tempting, but I feel better without it, yknow?

It happens 
Well, I'm sure you've seen the videos of farm animal abuse...and I know I've heard that it's true or not true and all sorts of rumors about thevalidity of them, but that's what originally got me looking into the idea. And the more I researched, the less I liked. Farm animals live in tiny pens their whole lives, this is true in almost every meat industry and they don't try to hide it. Plus, they're all fed enormous amounts of corn which plain out isn't natural or healthy for them or for anyone who eats them.
The real thing that really sets me over the edge though is this: When a big company ( McDonalds, for example ) makes their products like hamburgers or hot dogs or whatever, all the meat from thousands of cows is ground up together into kind of a potluck of animal. It's all ground beef, but from so many different cows that they're entirely indistinguishable. And what's so bad about that? If a single cow among these thousands were to get sick, it would infect however many mmillion burgers before anyone were to know, getting so many people sick and the like. The situations in the meat industry needs to improve drastically before I'll consider coming back. The animals need to be treated better, and we need better ways of taking care of the meat we do harvest from them.

Ahhhh. I see where you're coming from. You might be interested to know that last I heard, mcdonalds really doesn't even use meat in their burgers. It's actually flavored meal worms. Only the burgers advertised as being real meat are going to be from cows.
I think what you want to do is start buying from a small butcher. Last I checked they get their meat from real farmers who treat their animals decently. It'll cost more, but you might appreciate it as a treat that way.
And no worries, I don't mind hearing opinions at all. How else do you get to know people?

You're right, buying sort of locally like that would probably be better for me, but I really do enjoy being vegetarian. It makes me feel better, anyways, not just in the sense that I'm not killing animals, but I think I have more energy, wake up feeling better and all of that.
