✒ Personality
Kind-hearted | Loyal | Protective | Straight-forward | Solemn | Strict | Assertive | Distrustful | Impudent
Amelia usually displays a friendly behaviour to those who come to her, doing her best to treat everyone equally regardless of their status or house. She's someone who's willing to show kindness to others...As long as she receives the same treatment from them.
She's peculiarly perceptive and blunt, troublesome traits at the moment of befriending people. This means that, the moment she notices certain gestures or mannerisms that she might not like, she won't hesitate in dropping her usually amiable nature, sometimes coming across as hostile if the situation calls for it. These traits are proof of her distrustful side: Amelia is unable to trust people easily, and she's particularly wary of overly friendly people, thinking of that kind of behaviour as suspicious. Yet, once her trust is earned, so is a friend with unrivalled loyalty and who deeply cares about those who are important to her. She finds it hard to openly show her affection though. Thus, she eagerly looks after them instead, always watchful and ready to protect them if needed. Her way to look after others is not exactly the most friendly of all, though.
As someone who thinks all rules should be respected, she may nag or scold people who fail to follow simple etiquette or protocols such as wearing their clothes properly or sleeping in class. However, there is no ill-intent in this attitude of hers. She may come across as a strict and strait-laced girl, but she genuinely wants to help people to improve themselves and not do the things she used to do in the past, which gave her a lot of problems with her family.

✒ History
Amelia was born among the Muggle society, living a simple and normal life with her parents and brothers. Although her early years of life seemingly lacked anything related magic, once her older brother showed talent as a wizard and received an invitation to Hogwarts, new doors towards the Wizarding world opened. Amelia or "Ami" as she was called by her family, although ignorant and young at the time, found magic as something fascinating and not an object of fear, opposite to the views of many Muggles around her. Her interest in magic reached to a point where she deeply longed to have abilities akin to her brother and father’s, the last one being the one who brought magic into their family due to his status as a “Pure-blood”.
Before Amelia’s brother began his studies at Hogwarts, the Eldridge family moved closer to the Wizarding community, specifically to the outskirts of a peaceful Wizard-Muggle village. This was a mutual decision between the adults, who wanted their children to experience different things from both worlds. However, they were also influenced by the growing tension between Muggles and Wizards worldwide, seeking for a safer place to live despite England’s current truce status.
These drastic changes in their lives didn’t seem to pose difficulties to the Eldridges though. It didn't take long for the family to grow accustomed to their new life: Amelia’s father got a job in the Ministry of Magic, thanks to the connections of his Pure-blood, high positioned family. As to his Muggle wife, she also found employment in one of the village’s shops, and seemed to be living comfortably around both Wizards and those who lacked magical abilities like her. In this kind of context, the family perfectly settled in their new home, feeling safe and far from the potential conflicts between both worlds. However, their household wasn't what one would exactly regard as "peaceful".
Amelia had always done her best to be a good daughter to her parents, but as she and her siblings grew up, that became a rather hard task. Although her mother tried to convey her graceful, ladylike manners to her, playing and being constantly teased by her brothers every day resulted in her developing a rude and boyish attitude, much to her parents' dismay. Amelia's father in particular was very displeased with this, seeing that her behaviour earned looks of disapproval and gossiping from their Pure-blood relatives...

A few years passed by and Amelia turned eleven. She had already showed talent as a witch and was thrilled to receive an invitation to study at Hogwarts. But her excitement wouldn't last long, as her father had other plans in mind. Days after Amelia got her invitation letter, her father gave her the bad news.
"Your mouth and your actions are an embarrassment to this family."
The girl froze after that statement, not being able to reply back. Her father then sighed and continued.
I've been waiting for you to change all these years, but you leave me no choice. You'll be moving to France with your aunt Christine and attend Beauxbatons along your cousin. She'll shape you up into a proper lady."
The man's announcement came as a huge shock for the girl. Amelia often heard stories from her older brother whenever he was home and with each conversation, she noticed how happy he was and how much fun he had at that school. It was her dream to attend Hogwarts and her father was trying to keep her away from it.
Amelia protested again and again, hoping to change his mind in the little time she had left, but it was in vain. Her stern father wouldn't falter no matter what she said.
The day her older brother would return to school finally arrived. Late at night, with all his belongings in hand and a few suitcases, he was ready to get picked up by a friend to go together. He had already bid his goodbyes to the family and was waiting at their meeting place, when his little sister appeared...With her own share of luggage.
"..."
"Eight bars of Honeydukes' chocolate and all your dessert portions of the year. Oh, and I also like that black scarf of yours."
"What?! How did you--!"
"Because you're always doing dumb things. By the way, I never helped you."
"YOU BIG--!! UGH....Fine. Deal."
Without her parents knowing, Amelia sent her response to the school's invitation that day and packed her belongings, silently leaving the house while the adults slept. Resorting to her usually stingy brother was her only chance to get transportation, but it turned out to be easier than expected to convince him.
In this way the siblings departed for Hogwarts. Though the drive to Diagon Alley for school supplies and to the train station wasn't exactly comfortable, Amelia was delighted to finally attend her dream school. Oddly enough, her brother even showed a small display of kindness towards the small witch, guiding her throughout the whole trip to Hogwarts and having small chats to pass time.
"So, how did you hush little Nate?"
"Books."
"Haha."

Amelia's first year in Hogwarts started without major problems. She was sorted in Gryffindor, which brought some disappointment as she expected to be in the same house as her brother. Yet, she didn't question the Sorting Hat's decision, thinking that it was for her own good.
Naturally, her parents worried sick about her sudden disappearance, despite her leaving an explanation letter behind. Her father demanded her to return at once, however, Amelia's mother thought of another solution. As their daughter was so eager to attend the school, she came with a deal: Amelia's first year had to be a successful one and by the time of their Christmas family gathering, she had to show their relatives that she had improved her manners and behaviour. If she wasn't able to achieve this, she would be forced to go with her father's initial plan. Much to her dismay, her brother was also appointed to "keep an eye on her" on their place. Regardless, Amelia found this to be a good deal and agreed to their terms.
During her first year, Amelia was especially excited. At least, about learning the practical uses of magic, as she disliked reading long, complex books and listening to endless lectures. Her initial "rebel" behaviour prevented her from listening and studying properly at first, but driven but her desire to stay in Hogwarts and her interest in the Wizarding world, she decided to listen and study as she should have. And to her surprise, she ended up enjoying it. From this point on, she would study eagerly and look forward to most of her classes. Even though she was genuinely interested in magic, her deal with her parents was something she had present at all times too. This further motivated her to get a good performance at school, to the point of studying excessively at times and staying coped up in her room during exams periods.
Her commitment and the constant nagging of some teachers made her attitude improve fairly. After spending more time with the girls in her year, she also became rather feminine and left behind most of her tomboyish traits. By the time Christmas arrived, she had fulfilled her parents' expectations and satisfied the rest of her family, leaving a particularly good impression on them. Amelia was then allowed to stay in Hogwarts for the rest of her school years...As long as she kept up the very same behaviour she displayed that year.

As she continued with her studies, the girl eventually learned about the growing threat of the Non-magical community. Although she got an idea of the tension from her Muggle mother, it was at Hogwarts where she learned the details of the situation, as well as The Second Witch Trials, which triggered the conflicts to another level.
Living as a member of both worlds has changed her views about magical and non-magical beings, broadening her horizons. Naturally, as she and her siblings are Half-bloods, Amelia shows empathy to the Muggles’ fear of the unknown, yet she condemns those countries which view magic as a threat, and not as a blessing to nurture, something that even her mother believes as right. All she hopes for, is that a war will never be declared; that both worlds somehow overlook their differences and learn to respect each other's values and talents.

☼Jacqueline Eldridge: Amelia’s mother. A really kind and refined woman, although scary when angered. Comes from a well-off English family. Despite her status as a Muggle, most of the Eldridges didn’t look down on her when one of their Pure-blood descendants married her.

[ Other ]
➤The Eldridges used to avoid Half-bloods and Muggle-borns like many families in the past, fearing that letting them into the family would taint the blood of their descendants. As times change though, so did the family, now even welcoming Muggles such as Amelia's mother. However, some of its members are still rather 'picky' status-wise and find it hard to let go of traditions even after all these years, which is the reason why there's still a great deal of Pure-bloods in the family.
➤She finds it easier to befriend girls rather than boys. She's often really cold towards the later, probably due to her brothers and father constantly giving her trouble at home.
➤She gave in to her parents' constant nagging about manners and as result she usually speaks in a really formal way. Only when she's rather close to someone will she drop formalities a bit. She will shift back to her "old" aka thug speech if she's is about to lose her temper though.
➤Avid fan of Quidditch. Any kind of game is enough for her to get excited, but she mainly enjoys international matches and World Cups.
➤She has a huge collection of hair accessories since she likes wearing something different every day. Though since it's ridiculously big, half of it remains at her house while the other half is with her at Hogwarts.
➤She usually carries her pet Sol around her shoulders or in a pocket.
➤Ami is quite fond of sweets, especially chocolate. She likes baking pastries and sugary treats too.
➤Funny family fact; there’s a member of each Hogwarts house except for Hufflepuff in her family. However, Amelia's father usually jokes that had his wife been a witch, she would have probably been sorted into Hufflepuff.
➤Her worst year so far was when the three siblings went to Hogwarts together for the first time.
