How do you do the hair? I fail at that.

Thanks a lot. This is a very loaded question for me since I do have a 'hairy problem'. Hair is definitely my weakest area. I try to draw volume instead of individual hair. I read once that drawing light hair, one needs to draw the shadows and drawing dark hair one needs to be aware of the highlights. This is best how I can describe it.

Many thanks. It was interesting and fun to draw since it was my first commission and therefore a lot of anxiety and fear went into it as well. Turned out to the liking of the customer (Volker) who then asked me to do that portrait of his'.

Rick, from what I have seen you are more than up to the task - but I know that scare of the white paper and the nagging doubt if the customer really will like it - after we have invested so much into our drawings. Not only (actually least of if) time, but emotion, anxiety, hope .......

Amazing work! I love the smooth and natural transition from dark to light tones. The realism is incredible. I can definitely see Armin's influence but it's YOUR style. The hand is what really draws me in. The bones, muscle structure, and veins really brings the hand to life. I've always been amazed with your work and I consider you a true student of art. You are always learning and taking us along with you on your journey; in essence, allowing us to learn right along side you. Excellent work my friend!!!!

Ricky, so many thanks. As I say, I but try. Yes, Armin has a very BIG influence on me. If only I could draw hair better. My 'hairy problem'. If you can learn from my struggles and mistakes, be more than welcome.
