Description Same model as before with some little changes to the textures and the model too. Also playing about with lighting. Still trying to decide on the scene for the animation. Extra info at the bottom.

Original Image [link]

Class: Recon Drone
Control: Automated/Remote

Height: 120.2mm
Weight: 163.4 Grams
Max Jumping Distance: 9.76 ft
Power supply: hyper solar panel (Charges extremely quickly and gives large amounts of power)

The idea is that it has a camera in the middle which can rotate to any position. Firstly the sphere inside the glass casing rotates horizontally and the full glass case rotates vertically. The legs are strong and are capable of launching the bot to a maximum of 5 feet in the air straight up or distance in any direction of around 9.7ft. It is made of a lightweight but extremely tough material capable of withstanding gunfire when in defensive position. Power is supplied by a hyper solar panel located on the under side of the glass casing, which rotates to face the light source. Charging takes 1 to 5mins 1 minute charge lasts 2hrs and 5 minute charge lasts 72hrs. As the solar panel may be left in sunlight the power supply is endless.

(ADDED)

TEXTURES : have been changed, logo/badge added.

MODEL : The Sphere in the center can now raise and lower, if you look at the right side of the body you'll see a small metal runner. not sure if I should make it higher or not to make the camera able to raise all the way up. The problem with that is it must be stationary to fully raise or the top part of the legs hit it. The walk cycle animation is ready, just need to get the design right.

Created in 3DS Max 9.

Model time: Including repeated changes to design 2-3&1/2 hrs

Render time: 1hr 2mins

Hope you like it.

Thanks for having a look.

Thanks, well this was an old model with very little detail in it so the VX3 was an upgrade to this. I plan to make a new one at some point, It'll look quite different though.

I like this one the best!. If you'd add bump map to the ground it would look awesome. And since you have it textured anyway you could add some noise and dirt to the texture, maybe even make a spec map for that...

Great model but the floor texture looks a bit flat.

Darn that's good. I love how you can see the area reflected in the ball-and-socket joints.
