This is my best etching work (so far). I love plastic etching, always have.
But I got so much crap from the other students in class.
I don't mind answering honest questions like, "How do you do this?" or, "How long does this normally take?", etc.
What bugs me is the wise-guys trying to act all cool, dissing stuff that people put their hearts and souls into...
I'll stop ranting now. No one wants to hear it, I know.

"Well, to start, you get this thick, clear plastic and an etching tool (I don't know the technical terms for either, or even if there are technical terms XD ) and a reference picture. Then, you scratch out the darkest parts using heavy strokes to carve out deep lines. Then you just keep going to lighter and lighter parts until you are done, spacing them out like crosshatching.
It took quite a toll on my fingers lol"

I think it's because gifs aren't that high of quality? Not sure I think it was a recent thing as well because on my old account everything I saved was in gif format.
Anyways this is great! I think people are critical of your work because they fear your potential or they want to push you to your limits. Art is never perfect but it can be near perfect. As far as criticism goes I'd have worked on distinguishing the shades between the neck and coat. On the left side, her right side. You are very cautious of the details in outlining and in doing the hair. I can also see that the jacket was one of those thick fabrics, very nice.
