The pulsing beat of the music hums, caressing each body, lulling each thought. The colored lights flash, making the sweat shine and the glitter sparkle. The throng sways from side to side, each body perfectly in tune with the whole. A sweet escape, filled with techno and glow sticks.

Standing in the middle of the crowd, she found her peace. Crushed in the mass of life and light, she found her reason. Surrounded by fake grins and giggles, she found her release. She’s found everything she wanted, and lost what she never had.

No one knows her name. No one knows her life. No one knows why scars line each milky white arm. No one knows why her neck is covered with finger tip shaped bruises. No one knows why she’s crying. They don’t ask either. And she likes it that way.

For now, she doesn’t remember. She doesn’t remember the pain, the blood. She doesn’t remember his face, his name. She doesn’t remember their sneers, their hatred. She doesn’t remember dying inside, over and over. She doesn’t remember herself.
