Description There were only few secrets to flying; after safe takeoff and landing there really was only the question of which snacks to bring, because once elevated, nobody ever wanted to come down again.

There was an episode in Last Airbender where Katara gets to fly a kite and the problems associated with flying, which always makes me laugh my head off.
Based on an ink sketch, time: 70 min.

Sunsets never fail I don't think I'd be courageous enough to jump off a cliff with a glider, so I paint people who are.
Thanks!

Fog and low clouds really have this nice, calming, cosy blanket effect. Maybe that's why we're so relaxed here in the North
Thanks!

I am not very knowledgeable on the science of painting, but can tell a lot of technical knowhow went into this. Even without knowing the context, the kites are immediately discernable in the jitter.
I don't know what you did, but keep doing it.

You may not believe it but you're saying this to one of the least technically sound images I produced in weeks I'm happy the effort shows though and that you like it, and I will certainly keep striving to improve.
Thanks!

I really like painting skies in different colours than blue, it's so fascinating what an effect it has.
Thanks!

This is gorgeous. I love the rocks and the moss and the mist. I love the huge mysterious monument. I love how the blue gliders blend in with the birds.

If I were going to complain about something (and I feel like I have to, otherwise people aren't getting their money's worth) then I'd say the bright gold of the sky isn't really affecting the lighting of the mid-ground the way I'd expect it to. From those colors, I'd expect the sky to be more orange or pink.

It's hard to really care about something like that, though, when you're focusing on the exhilaration of the characters just launching, and the energy and flow of the birds seeming to indicate the path the gliders are about to take. It's just engrossing.

Thanks The colours were taken from a screenshot of a nature documentary with a spectacular orange sky over foggy mountains that were perfectly green. I can only assume it was a sunset with a slim band of colour and otherwise neutral, and throughout most of my painting the sky had a pale yellow-pink colour. You're pointing out what I suspected, the lighting isn't clear enough. Unfortunately I sometimes change my mind in the middle about something as critical as the lighting. So, people get what they paid for and I get useful critique, hooray! Really though, thanks, it's good to have my suspicions confirmed.

Glad I could say something helpful.

And seriously, it's still fantastic work.
