One mornings work. I just had to paint a womans portrait!This is acrylic's on canvas. Once i get the colors and feeling right, i will start painting in oils.

Dit is een opzet in Acryl. Daarom dat het ook zo snel gaat. Mijn olieverf afwerking neemt veel meer tijd in beslag. ik gebruik Rembrandt verf van Talens en Oud holland en Mussini van Schminke.

Why do you work with acrylics first? Because you can cover it easily? It looks great so far, and I'm sure it will end up being an astonishing painting. I really have a major respect for your artwork. The large scale seems tempting, but I'm sure it's a great pleasure to work like that. I can't wait to get to that level when I will be able to feel confident enough about my technique and paint on a large canvas! You're a bit of a role model to me as you can see

I had no idea your paintings were so huge! This is absolutely gorgeous, I don't know how on earth you get acrylic to bend to your will like this. I tend to have trouble with it drying practically instantly no matter what medium I mix into it to extend its life. I should probably change brands or something, who knows...anyway great post!

how the hell did you do this in only one morning?
well it looks like a masterpiece already. Is it a good technique to start with acrylics and later with oils. What are you doing with the oils? Detailing?

This is a wonderful painting so far. As a painting major, I have a question.. What is the benefit to painting with acrylics first before oils?

The benefit is, you can paint her dress in green and change your mind to paint it red in minutes! The paint dry's so quickly that you can add changes in no time without the loss of expensive oil paint. I am now gonna create a mosaic behind the face, in the cirkel. If that does'nt work out as i had it in mind, it will be painted over so that i can work out something else. Acrylic's are a great medium if you are still in the search zone and dont know what is gonna come out. Simply perfect for experimenting! Thanks for asking!
