Yes, that is fairly evident. Probably just as well for water, which likes to flow in any case. Though I daresay water enjoys encountering structures like these, that forces the flow to be divided and channeled in multiple directions, perhaps reforming into some sort of collective puddle on the other side that is evaporated by the sun's rays. Once evaporated, formed into cloud, sprinkling down again for another run over the same surface, like a child in a playground who keeps climbing and going down the slide. Perfectly content to do it's mindless little thing in a loop, like a hamster running in a wheel that gets nowhere, but at least makes the hamster fitter.
The grate, for its part, probably enjoys the sensation of the water's flow, that absent the interference of other elements, finds its own natural rhythm within the set parameters and settles peacefully into a comforting companionship of sorts.
