Description ...and because I am not completely evil I decided to share with you my latest picture I have considered for lost. I had it considered for lost because before submiting it on DeviantART my computer´s hard disc suffered fatal malfunction with complete loss of data.
This is the only Christmas request picture I did shortly before last year´s end for ~XsiWolf and only thanks to her kindness, school scanner and one e-mail you can see it for yourselves now. I only had to tinker brightness and contrast a bit to match it closely to what I remember it.
I have drawn for ~XsiWolf once before ... Well, twice in fact and it was a pleasure each time and I know it will be just the same next time.

Oh man, i haven't commented on your artwork for such a long time Well, time to make up for that
This is such beautiful piece, i really love it, one of my fav pieces of yours
This painting is just so peaceful and warm, and yet mysterious, i love that atmosphere
The coloring is wonderful as always, i especially love how you did that bookshelf in the background, nice contrast between colors
And just the way you did the character, his pose and expressions, you captured his emotions very well^^
Great job

I am so glad the picture receives such a high praise from you - It´s my personal favourite, too. Turning out this good is actually ~XsiWolf ´s doing, since she was so specific about how it should be laid out... Which brings me to frequent mistakings of the character being a male... I, like any other common guy, very much enjoy girls´ beauty and can´t think why I could not get hers right.

Definitively one of my favorite of yours, especially for that pleasure expression when playing in the night, that makes us imagine that he (or she??) is really playing a perfectly tuned piece (and all we know how can sound these fiddles when they are out of tune ) the pose is very natural, and it's not forced, but what gets my attention there, are some objects, as the glass or the candle, with a perfectly aligned perspective, it is necessary to be a truly perfectionist to be able to align those things there (or to have patience to paint the strings of the violin with a small paintbrush too) it is what I admire a lot of all your works, you put a lot of detail passion on them

Why, thank you! It´s a pleasure to see somebody to elaborate on comments on my creations. Makes me feel fuzzy inside. The reason why it looks so well must be because ~XsiWolf was quite specific in what she wanted to see in there and gave me little freedom for self-expression, and her ideas being superion to mine must have resulted in superior picture from my other works.

Ahh the title, I have a dirty mind

Really though, I think this is one of your best pieces yet!
I love how you manage to get so much detail into your art without using too many brush strokes - you've created a lovely atmosphere C:

Thank you! I am starting to think I am getting really good at my hobby - All these comments point at that direction. ...And you are the second one who got evoked undecent thoughts by the title. Would you, please, care to explain me why? As English is only my second language I can never be too sure with using unintentionally double meanings and ideoms, as it seems to be the case here.

No problem at all!
And well... the word "fiddle" can also mean to play or mess with, and can be interpreted as sexual
The fact that you put "late night" in front of the word just made me think of it in that sense

RadosBadger In reply to LauraBev [2012-02-09 16:44:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for clearing that up for me. I would never think the word "fiddle" could be associated with that meaning, as "to fiddle with a girl" just sounds plain dumb to me. Maybe I should think of another title so that ~XsiWolf doesn´t get a wrong message. ...Only this was the best title I could think for it, and getting a new one will be hard to do. Well, life likes to complicate itself for me just to keep me entertained, it seems.

No problem at all xD
I wouldn't worry about it, "fiddle" isn't really used in that sense much. It was just my dirty mind! xD

Woo, I was wondering when you'd be submitting another picture! I don't know why, but I love the bookshelf! Teehee.
After reading Velvian's comment (and your reply!) I think a similar tip could instead be to tweak the contrast, that way you keep strong forms without having to use a small brush

You know your own style very well, and if everything is as intended then nobody should tell you otherwise! If it was one of my pictures, I'd be tempted to swap white highlights for a warm cream, and hints of dark blue/purple in the shadows. Oh, like there is on the tail actually! xD I'm sure you know what I mean though. lol

Anyways, keep on fiddling! ;D Hope there's more super pics soon to follow!

I have to wonder whether it is sheer accident or if I "trained" with my influence my watchers to write meaningful comments.
I have to ask you to give me a better picture of what you mean with that contrast part. I understand the other part, but mixing colours in my style is more of a rather random outcome with no regards to my own aims. It´s little vague and pointless to explain how it all warks, all that´s needed to be said is that forming an idea of keeping purpusely certain hue in a picture is very possible, but it takes its toll on how long I have to try to achieve that... But keeping shadows cold and lighted patched warm is a briliant idea!... Too bad it wasn´t mine, but will have to try it anyway.

I'm so glad you were able to salvage a scan of this painting The shirt design comes across so well in such an impressionistic style, as do the details of the violin; this is something I love about your style. A lot of artists struggle with putting glasses on a face with a snout, but you pulled it off--more than that, with style! The mood in general I lovely and tranquil, but I can only imagine how much more practice it takes to make those fingerings on the strings with paws

RadosBadger In reply to KalahariFox [2012-01-29 11:06:27 +0000 UTC]

I love getting awesome comments to my works to establish some quality to the pic - Unworthy pictures don´t get worthy comments, but thanks to you and a some others this picture of mine transcended it. I blame ~XsiWolf ´s request description that lead to this result, and I fully agree with you about the pains accessories can give to an anthro artist. I swear one day I will sit down and do throughout research of glasses, trousers, hats, loose fur and undies on anthro figures. ...And yeah, I bet no violinist would buy my paw-y virtuoso story. Thank you very much!

KalahariFox In reply to RadosBadger [2012-01-30 00:31:23 +0000 UTC]

This did generate some very thoughtful comments actually--hardly seems like the regular deviantArt! I've seen other artists work on the practical design of clothing and accessories for anthro animals (or to be technical, furgonomics, hehe), with mixed results. A balance certainly needs to be struck between practicality and aesthetics (e.g., it's not a good idea to have the arms of the glasses go over the ears of such a creature).

Cool pic, loving the candle in the back!

Oh man I come back to my inbox after a month or more and of course you have delivered this gem to keep my spirits up. We see not here some moment of intense action, not a heated debate or violent expression of any kind, this is a man (I presume) left to himself and to his craft, within which is the real intensity of the peace expressed as ever by your excellent brushwork, this is epitome of your own style, one that never fails to impress. TO say any more would simply needlessly emphasise my adoration! Art like this makes my heart change tempo, I can say so truly.

Whoa! A comment like this will make me yearn for you posting comments on regular basis - I lived a couple of years here on DeviantART and I could thoughtful commentators of your magnitude on fingers of one hand. I swear there is only few things more inspiring than that. ... I will have to take a look at my anatomy, though. This is supposed to be a gal.
You truly have my gratitude here... And if a soft spot of yours really gets hit by my works, you should know I am pretty good with reqeusts to people I am grateful to, just as is this pic´s case.

An artist seeks nothing but the critique of his audience, his audience must seek nothing more than quality art!
That said, you might be a little more convenient than trying to get hold of squeedge, and tbh you're probably better than her.

Cheers to that! ... And I think the other sentense won´t let me sleep easily for some nights now. With my English, looking up the definition of "squeedge" confused me much more than it helped.

Oh squeedge is a really popular devi art artist. Do you know the musician Renard or Lapfox? That's probably where you're most likely to see her work. And saying you're better than her is quite the compliment, I assure you!

I really like this style, it reminds me of 'Starry Night', by Van Gough. Very eye catching.

Thank you! The only thing is that as far as I know van Gogh took just that one night to paint his ´Starry Night´, which is a production speed I can only dream of. In conclusion, despite of some style similarities he remains the real artist.

Great job on this one, love the whole feel of the picture, makes me wanna listen to some piano and orchestral music.
Even though your style is something to itself I would like to see you sharpen it up a bit, to put it like that.
More clear edges so that the pictures dont blend so much with themselves, and in this one a little stronger shading.
I like how you did the violin though

RadosBadger In reply to Velvian [2012-01-27 10:15:53 +0000 UTC]

Blasphemy! What you imply is nothing less but to reject years of built-up skills and work back with style I started with, which indeed was much more refined but less distinctive, much more painful to do and very rife to screwing the whole picture with one brush stroke. No, those days are very happily left behind in fond memories. I found this style to be harder for some brains to make out, but so far it gathered more popularity.
I am very happy it did touch and spark a soft spot of yours. Thank you for that. And remember - In case of true art, the world adjust to the artist, never the other way around.

Velvian In reply to RadosBadger [2012-01-27 10:24:24 +0000 UTC]

I am not saying you change your entire style, just that you sharpen the edges slightly.
And this is what I would like to see in your art, theres noone TELLING you to change it even for one second.
So by all means do as you please.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RadosBadger In reply to Velvian [2012-01-27 10:37:58 +0000 UTC]

Yes, and thank you for the imput, but sharpness of edges falls entirely into the style department and it stays the way they are. Sorry. It can eigher be that or you might not live to see many more of my pics as I would have to work with a tiny brush.
